Chief Agentic Cloud Architect

Our client is a rapidly growing enterprise software organization that acquires and scales B2B SaaS businesses. As the company continues to expand its portfolio, it is building a standardized cloud foundation that supports multiple enterprise applications across development, testing, production, and internal environments. The organization is investing heavily in cloud governance, AI-assisted operations, infrastructure automation, and operational excellence to create a secure, scalable, and cost-efficient cloud ecosystem.

They are looking for an experienced Chief Agentic Cloud Architect to define and govern the organization's AWS cloud architecture, establish cloud standards and security policies, and build an intelligent operations model powered by automation and AI-assisted tooling. This is a strategic, hands-on leadership role responsible for designing the cloud foundation that supports multiple enterprise SaaS products while ensuring reliability, security, compliance, and operational efficiency at scale.

Working Hours: This role requires daily collaboration with a U.S.-based engineering team. Candidates must be available to work until at least 3:00 PM EST (U.S. Eastern Time), with flexibility to work beyond these hours when business needs require.

Responsibilities

Cloud Foundation & Governance

• Design and own the AWS Landing Zone architecture, including multi-account strategy, organizational hierarchy, and account provisioning standards.
• Define and enforce cloud governance through Service Control Policies (SCPs) across development, QA, staging, production, internal, and customer-facing environments.
• Own the overall cloud infrastructure architecture, including compute, storage, networking, and database services, ensuring high availability, fault tolerance, disaster recovery, and scalability.
• Establish Infrastructure as Code standards using Terraform or AWS CDK to ensure infrastructure is reproducible, auditable, and version-controlled.
• Drive cloud cost optimization through right-sizing, reserved capacity planning, and continuous infrastructure analysis.

Security Architecture

• Define and maintain cloud security standards across networking, applications, identity management, and data protection.
• Implement secure architecture using VPC segmentation, IAM least-privilege principles, encryption, secrets management, web application security, and service-to-service authentication.
• Ensure continuous compliance through automated policy enforcement, infrastructure drift detection, audit logging, and environment isolation.

Observability & Operational Excellence

• Design, implement, and maintain the organization's observability platform using Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch, and related monitoring technologies.
• Develop monitoring dashboards, application performance metrics, alerting strategies, and Service Level Objective (SLO) reporting.
• Create comprehensive operational runbooks with clearly defined triggers, procedures, escalation paths, and validation steps to enable efficient operational support.

AI-Assisted Cloud Operations

• Implement AI-assisted monitoring and automation for infrastructure health, deployment validation, anomaly detection, autoscaling analysis, and cloud cost optimization.
• Build operational feedback loops that continuously improve reliability, performance, security, and operational processes through intelligent automation.
• Promote proactive operations by reducing manual intervention while maintaining appropriate engineering oversight for complex or high-impact decisions.

Requirements

• 12+ years of experience in Cloud Infrastructure, Platform Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), or DevOps.
• AWS Solutions Architect – Associate certification required; AWS Solutions Architect – Professional certification strongly preferred.
• Extensive experience designing and operating AWS Landing Zones using AWS Organizations, Organizational Units (OUs), and Service Control Policies (SCPs).
• Deep hands-on expertise with AWS services including EC2, EKS, RDS, Lambda, S3, CloudFront, Route 53, CloudWatch, IAM, VPC, Transit Gateway, AWS Control Tower, and related services.
• Strong experience designing secure multi-account AWS environments and implementing cloud governance frameworks.
• Experience managing cloud infrastructure across development, QA, staging, and production environments.
• Strong experience building and operating observability platforms using Prometheus, Grafana, or equivalent technologies.
• Experience writing operational runbooks and establishing standardized operational procedures.
• Practical experience with AI-assisted infrastructure operations, agentic AI workflows, or LLM-powered automation.
• Excellent architectural, communication, and leadership skills with the ability to establish technical standards across multiple engineering teams.

Nice to Have

• Additional AWS certifications such as DevOps Engineer Professional, Security Specialty, or Advanced Networking Specialty.
• Extensive experience with Terraform or AWS CDK for Infrastructure as Code at enterprise scale.
• Experience supporting multi-product SaaS environments or large-scale cloud platform consolidation initiatives.
• Familiarity with FinOps practices and cloud cost governance frameworks.
• Experience implementing AWS Control Tower or similar Landing Zone automation solutions.
• Background leading cloud transformation, governance, or enterprise platform modernization initiatives.
