Role Purpose

You will lead the engineering team that builds and runs our introducing-broker and partner platform: the systems that onboard partners, calculate multi-level partner commissions and rebates from referred trading activity, and give partners clear reporting on their performance. This platform sits at the commercial heart of the brokerage, integrating directly with the MetaTrader 5 trading platform and our core client systems, so correctness, traceability and reliability of every payout calculation matter as much as the features themselves.

This is a hands-on leadership role. You will still write and review Java every week while owning the team's architecture, technical direction and end-to-end delivery. Day to day you balance coding and design with planning, mentoring and unblocking the team, working closely with product and with neighbouring engineering teams such as payments and the trading-platform integration layer. You will partner with product owners to shape the roadmap and turn it into well-sequenced, shippable work. The team works fully remotely, and this role reports to the CTO.

Key Responsibilities

Hands-On Engineering

• Design, write and review production Java daily, setting the standard for the codebase through your own contributions
• Build and evolve Spring Boot microservices that handle partner onboarding, commission and rebate calculation, and partner-facing reporting
• Own correctness and auditability of partner commission logic, ensuring every calculation is traceable and reconcilable
• Integrate with the MetaTrader 5 platform and core client systems through REST and event-driven messaging
• Tackle the hardest technical problems and production issues alongside the team, not from the sidelines

Architecture & Technical Ownership

• Own the architecture of the partner platform, making and documenting clear decisions on service boundaries, data models and integration patterns
• Design event-driven, message-based flows and resilient APIs that keep partner data consistent across systems
• Drive choices on persistence, scaling and observability for services running on AWS with containers and CI/CD
• Plan for performance, idempotency and fault tolerance in financial calculations that must never silently drift
• Manage technical debt deliberately, balancing delivery speed against long-term maintainability

People Leadership & Engineering Standards

• Lead, mentor and grow a team of engineers, supporting their technical development and career progression
• Run pragmatic, high-signal code review and raise the engineering bar across testing, design and operational quality
• Foster a culture of ownership, clear communication and constructive feedback in a fully remote setting
• Coach engineers on the trading and partner-commission domain so the team builds with real context

Delivery & Collaboration

• Own end-to-end delivery for the team, from shaping work with product through to production and post-release support
• Break roadmap goals into well-scoped, sequenced and estimable work, and keep delivery predictable
• Coordinate with payments, trading-platform integration and other teams on shared contracts and dependencies
• Communicate progress, risks and trade-offs clearly to the CTO and stakeholders
• Champion operational readiness, monitoring and on-call practices for the services you own

Required Experience & Skills

• Proven team-management experience is essential — you have directly led a team of engineers as their team lead, owning day-to-day coordination, planning, 1:1s, mentoring, performance and growth, and the team's delivery, while staying hands-on with code
• 8+ years building production backend systems in Java, with deep, current Spring Boot and microservices experience
• Strong command of REST API design, relational databases and SQL, and writing performant, well-tested data access
• Solid experience with event-driven and message-based architectures, including idempotency and eventual consistency
• Hands-on experience running services on AWS with containers (Docker/Kubernetes) and mature CI/CD pipelines
• Demonstrated ownership of system architecture and technical decisions for a non-trivial product area
• Experience building systems where calculation correctness, auditability and data integrity are critical
• Excellent code review, mentoring and technical communication skills, with a record of raising team quality
• Comfortable owning end-to-end delivery and collaborating directly with product and stakeholders
• Self-directed and effective in a fully remote, distributed engineering team

Nice to Have

• Domain experience in online trading, CFDs/FX, brokerage or fintech
• Familiarity with the MetaTrader 5 platform and its integration model
• Experience building introducing-broker, affiliate or multi-level partner-commission/rebate systems
• Background in payments or other financially sensitive, high-integrity systems
• Experience with observability tooling such as Grafana, Prometheus or CloudWatch
• Infrastructure-as-code experience with Terraform or similar
• Exposure to a front-end stack such as React and TypeScript for partner-facing tooling
• Experience scaling and mentoring teams through periods of growth
