Head of RnD/RnD Lead

About the role

We're looking for a Head of R&D — someone who combines strong technical leadership with a product-oriented mindset. You'll own the engineering strategy, lead development teams, and stay closely connected to product goals — from discovery through delivery. This is a role for someone equally comfortable discussing system architecture and talking OKRs with the business.

Responsibilities

• Lead multiple engineering teams through Team Leads — set direction, unblock teams, and develop people
• Own end-to-end delivery: backlog planning, prioritization, progress tracking, and release management
• Serve as the primary interface between Engineering and Product Management — translate product vision into technical decisions
• Mentor Team Leads and senior engineers in their professional growth
• Define and drive engineering standards: CI/CD, automated testing, code review, and performance monitoring
• Participate in product discovery: shape hypotheses, analyse metrics, and influence the roadmap
• Identify technology opportunities — including AI/ML — and translate them into concrete product and engineering initiatives
• Run regular 1:1s, performance reviews, and people processes in partnership with the HR team

Requirements

• 7+ years in software engineering, with 3+ years in an engineering or product leadership role
• Strong engineering background — you can engage at the architecture, code review, and technical decision-making level
• Proven experience leading multi-disciplinary Agile teams (Scrum, Kanban)
• Solid hands-on knowledge of CI/CD, automated testing, release management, and monitoring practices (Atlassian, Git, etc.)
• Understanding of current AI trends with practical experience applying them — whether to optimize workflows or build intelligent product features
• Ability to read product metrics, interpret A/B experiments, and make data-driven decisions
• Excellent communication skills — you can make complexity simple for both engineers and business stakeholders
• English B2+ 

Nice to have

• Experience in live streaming, mobile applications, or high-concurrency consumer platforms
• Background in gaming, entertainment tech, or creator economy products
• Experience working in international teams distributed across multiple time zones
