Data Engineer / ETL Developer

Duration: 3 months with the possibility of extension
We are looking for a Data Engineer / ETL Developer to join a data modernization project focused on migrating existing SSIS-based ETL processes to a new Microsoft Fabric environment.
This is a great opportunity to work on a business-critical migration initiative for a SaaS product in the Fleet Management industry while leveraging modern Microsoft data technologies.
Project Overview
The primary goal of the project is to analyze, migrate, and optimize existing SSIS processes within Microsoft Fabric, ensuring reliability, scalability, and data quality throughout the transition.
The client is based in Israel, and English will be the primary language of communication within the team.
This is a new client engagement with the potential for a long-term collaboration beyond the initial project phase.
Responsibilities
- Analyze existing SSIS packages and ETL workflows.
- Migrate ETL processes to the Microsoft Fabric ecosystem.
- Design, develop, and optimize data integration and transformation pipelines.
- Ensure data quality, consistency, and performance throughout the migration process.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to ETL jobs and data pipelines.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and understand business and reporting requirements.
- Participate in testing, validation, deployment, and post-migration support activities.
- Document technical solutions, data flows, and transformation logic.
Requirements
- 2โ4 years of commercial experience as a Data Engineer, ETL Developer, or in a similar role.
- Strong understanding of ETL processes and data integration concepts.
- Hands-on experience with SQL and relational databases.
- Practical experience with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).
- Understanding of data warehousing, data modeling, and data transformation principles.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
- Good English communication skills.
Nice to Have
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric (strongly preferred).
- Experience with Azure Data Factory, Power BI, or other Microsoft data platform tools.
- Familiarity with cloud-based data architectures and analytics solutions.
- Previous experience with ETL migration or modernization projects.
- Knowledge of data governance and data quality best practices.
