Senior Android Developer (3-month project)

We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Android Developer to join a short-term project with an approximate duration of 3 months. The client is a Cambridge-based medical technology company that specializes in advanced solutions for diabetes management.

The Job

A migration project. This is a hands-on engineering role requiring someone who can quickly become productive, perform code migration, implement comprehensive unit testing, and validate the successful operation of the migrated functionality.

Key Responsibilities

• Migrate Android codebases from AWS Android SDK to AWS Kotlin SDK
• Perform Java-to-Kotlin migration where required
• Develop and maintain high-quality, maintainable Android application code
• Create and execute comprehensive unit tests to validate migrated functionality
• Ensure application stability, performance, and reliability throughout the migration process
• Follow best practices for CI/CD, automated testing, and code quality
• Contribute to technical discussions and architectural decisions where appropriate

Required Qualifications

Must-have:

• 5+ years of professional Android development experience
• Strong experience with Android application development using Java and Kotlin
• Experience with AWS Android SDK and/or AWS Kotlin SDK
• Proven experience migrating or modernizing Android codebases
• Strong understanding of writing clean, maintainable, and testable code
• Experience with unit testing and automated testing practices
• Experience with mobile CI/CD tooling, including build and test automation
• Strong communication skills and ability to work independently in a remote environment

Nice to Have:

• Experience in healthcare or medical technology environments
• Experience developing Software as a Medical Device (SaMD)
• Experience working on safety-critical or regulated applications

What Success Looks Like

By the end of the engagement, you will have:

• Successfully migrated targeted functionality from AWS Android SDK to AWS Kotlin SDK
• Completed required Java-to-Kotlin modernization work
• Delivered comprehensive unit test coverage
• Demonstrated successful operation and stability of migrated components
• Left the codebase in a maintainable, well-documented state

3. Client Technical Screening with Senior Developer (90 minutes)
