Senior Business Analyst

We are looking for a Senior Business Analyst to join our team developing an automated dispatch system for a Canadian company that has smart metering solutions and is expanding into the US market. The product operates in the wholesale electricity market within the Demand Response segment: industrial and commercial participants reduce energy consumption during peak grid load in exchange for market payments.

Requirements

• Confident Middle+/Senior BA with hands-on experience in IT web product development
• Experience in the energy domain (smart metering, utilities, grid management, or similar) is a strong asset
• Understanding of IoT concepts and/or data transmission principles (sensor/device → platform pipelines)
• Experience with knowledge management and backlog prioritization in a complex domain
• Proven ability to facilitate requirement clarification meetings with clients and effectively communicate outcomes to the development team
• Ability to quickly ramp up on a new domain and product with limited guidance
• Strong stakeholder communication skills; proven ability to work with English-speaking clients
• Solid English (C1 or at least B2+ written and spoken)

Responsibilities

• Elicit, analyze, and document business and functional requirements across the full product scope
• Communicate directly with Canada-based stakeholders and client representatives; manage expectations and prioritize backlog in line with regulatory requirements
• Facilitate regular meetings with the client to clarify requirements, capture decisions, and ensure alignment between business needs and technical implementation
• Maintain and evolve the product knowledge base; onboard new team members to the domain context
• Conduct knowledge transfer sessions and prepare operational handoff documentation
• Translate complex energy domain logic (dispatch lifecycle, DER obligation harmonization, metering data flows) into clear specifications for the development team
• Potentially work across additional product areas: meter servicing/testing workflows, legacy modernization initiatives, and energy consumption visualization

Would Be a Plus

• Understanding of SCADA systems, Ignition platform, HTTP/REST APIs
• Familiarity with Demand Response programs and/or DER (Distributed Energy Resources) concepts
• Experience with Microsoft Azure or cloud-based platform environments
