ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for a Technical Application Support Engineer to provide backup coverage for our platform and related audience workflows. This is NOT a primary feature development role. 

 

The person will act as a technical backup and first responder when the Europe-based team is unavailable, helping India and US teams investigate issues, validate system behavior, check logs, inspect API/database state, and escalate with clear technical context when deeper engineering work is required.

RESPONSIBILITIES
β€’ Provide backup technical support for internal API and related workflows
β€’ Investigate production and staging issues using API responses, logs, metrics, Kafka state, MongoDB, and PostgreSQL
β€’ Understand and trace the core system flow related to external platform integrations
β€’ Investigate why entities failed to create/update, synchronize, or retrieve reports correctly
β€’ Troubleshoot platform-specific issues (Facebook/Meta, LinkedIn, etc.)
β€’ Validate common token/auth issues including expired user tokens, missing permissions, and platform account
mapping problems
β€’ Use Kibana, Grafana, Prometheus, Graphite, Kafka metrics, and database queries to support investigations
β€’ Follow runbooks for safe operational checks and simple remediation steps
β€’ Document findings clearly and escalate with enough context for engineering teams to act quickly
β€’ Work closely with teams in India, Europe, and the US


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
β€’ 3+ years in application support, production support, technical operations, backend QA, SRE-lite, or similar roles
β€’ Strong understanding of REST APIs, JSON, HTTP status codes, and backend request flows
β€’ Hands-on experience reading logs and investigating production issues
β€’ Practical experience with MongoDB and SQL/PostgreSQL for read-only investigation
β€’ Basic working knowledge of Kafka or event-driven systems
β€’ Familiarity with Kubernetes-based applications at support level
β€’ Ability to use dashboards and observability tools such as Kibana, Grafana, Prometheus, or similar
β€’ Strong troubleshooting mindset with clear written communication in English
β€’ Ability to work with distributed teams across India, Europe, and the US

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
β—† Experience supporting Scala, Java, or JVM backend systems
β—† Familiarity with Apache Pekko or Akka HTTP / Streams

β—† Experience with advertising platforms or marketing APIs
β—† Familiarity with OAuth, refresh tokens, access tokens, system users, and platform permissions
β—† Basic understanding of CI/CD, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Docker, and Kubernetes deployments
β—† Experience creating support runbooks and incident summaries


WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
After onboarding, this person should be able to:
β€’ Understand the platform request/event flow end-to-end
β€’ Check whether a problem is in API validation, Kafka processing, event handling, MongoDB/PostgreSQL state, external
platform API, or something else
β€’ Identify common platform integration differences
β€’ Answer basic "what happened?" questions without waking up the European owner
β€’ Escalate only when deeper engineering changes or platform-specific decisions are needed
β€’ Maintain useful troubleshooting documentation for repeated issues
