A financial company launching a new project in the Polish market is seeking a Head of Risk / Chief Risk Officer (CRO) โ an expert who will build a risk management framework from scratch for an online factoring business (SME segment), as well as for installment / annuity loan products (retail clients / sole proprietors), ensuring stability, scalability, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Requirements
Higher education (finance, economics, mathematics, or law)
Minimum 2 years of experience as a Head of Risk / Senior Risk Manager in a factoring company or in the installment (annuity) lending segment
Proven experience in building or transforming a risk function (from scratch or within a new product/project)
In-depth understanding of factoring products (with recourse / without recourse, invoice financing, debtor risk)
Strong knowledge of annuity loan products (loans with maturities over 12 months)
Knowledge of Polish regulatory requirements (including KNF, AML/KYC, PSD2 โ considered an advantage)
Experience working with:
credit risk
debtor (buyer) risk
operational risk and fraud risk
Hands-on experience in implementing scoring models, risk metrics, and early warning systems (EWS)
Experience collaborating with IT / data teams (defining requirements, risk process automation)
Strong analytical and leadership skills
Professional working proficiency in English
Key Responsibilities
Build the risk management function from scratch for a new factoring business and annuity loan product
Develop and implement:
credit policy
customer and debtor assessment methodologies
risk appetite framework and limit system
Establish processes for:
underwriting
portfolio monitoring
management of overdue receivables and non-performing exposures
Develop scoring models (SME / corporate / debtors)
Implement early warning systems (EWS)
Define key risk indicators (PD, LGD, concentration, portfolio quality)
Build management reporting and risk analytics systems
Design and implement a credit decision-making system (decision engine), including decision rules, limit logic, approval workflows, and process automation
Develop and implement anti-fraud approaches and control procedures to identify fraud risks related to clients, debtors, and financed invoices / deliveries
Regularly review and enhance risk methodologies, decision-making rules, and limit policies based on portfolio data and monitoring results
Participate in product development (in cooperation with business and IT), including:
embedded risk control mechanisms (risk checks)
automation of decision-making logic
