Senior Backend Engineer - (Laravel / Native PHP) - API to $7500

What we are looking for

The ideal candidate has:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
• 5+ years of experience building complex backend or data-driven systems
• At least 5 years of hands-on experience with PHP, Laravel
• Strong coding skills and a collaborative mindset
• A genuine interest in new technologies, tools, and ways of working
• Strong English communication skills, both written and spoken
• Availability to work at least 2-3 days per week from our office in Leeuwarden or Deventer

What you will do

As a Senior Backend Engineer your main focus will be solving complex technical challenges and strengthening the foundation of our platform.

You will work on:

• Backend architecture and system design
• Real-time data processing systems
• Scalable, high-performance API solutions
• Performance optimization and reliability improvements
• Future-proof infrastructure and backend development practices

You will primarily work with PHP, Laravel, and object-oriented programming.

Beyond writing excellent code, you will also help professionalize the development team. You will contribute to setting priorities, reviewing code, improving development processes, and collaborating closely with developers, product owners, and stakeholders to ensure we build the right solutions in the right way.
