Head of Payments Operations

We are hiring on behalf of our client as a fast-growing fintech group operating across crypto, regulated financial services, and e-commerce, managing multiple entities and payment infrastructures across jurisdictions.

We are seeking a senior payments leader whose primary responsibility is leading and scaling a payments team, while owning and developing long-term relationships with banks, EMIs, PSPs, and APMs.

This role begins as a co-lead position and is designed to progress into full ownership of the Payments Department.

Role Overview

As Head of Payments, you will lead a team of payments specialists, ensure execution quality, and maintain stable, scalable, and redundant payment capabilities across all group entities.

You will operate at the intersection of operations, business development, and regulation, with exposure to MSB structures, MiCA licensing preparation, and multi-entity e-commerce operations.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Execution

• Lead, manage, and develop the Payments team
• Establish clear ownership, workflows, and performance standards
• Drive structured, predictable execution
• Hire and onboard additional team members as scale requires
• Ensure independent team performance with minimal escalation

Banking & PSP Relationship Management

• Own and maintain senior relationships with:

Banks and EMIs

PSPs and APM providers

• Act as primary escalation point for operational and capacity matters
• Continuously expand and strengthen the network of payment partners
• Work closely with Business Development to position entities sustainably

Crypto & Regulated Payments

• Oversee payment infrastructure for crypto-related activities
• Coordinate with Legal and Compliance on regulated setups
• Support alignment with MiCA licensing requirements
• Ensure operational continuity and risk diversification

E-commerce Payments

• Lead PSP, APM, and B2B banking setup across multiple e-commerce entities
• Ensure strong approval ratios and local payment coverage
• Proactively replace underperforming providers
• Support launches and entity transitions without disruption

Cross-Functional Coordination

• Collaborate closely with Legal & Compliance, Business Development, and Product teams
• Ensure consistent, professional representation toward external partners
