Senior Game Mathematician - Mobile F2P / AR Game

We are building ChestHunt, a real-world AR treasure hunting mobile game with a complex in-game economy based on probabilistic rewards, crafting systems, and monetization mechanics.

 

We are looking for a Game Mathematician to design and balance a fair yet profitable long-term game economy that ensures sustainable player retention.

 

This is a remote part-time role.

 

What You Will Do:

 

Probability Design (Loot Tables)

 

  • Design and balance drop rates for items of different rarity tiers (Common, Rare, Epic, Legendary)
  • Configure reward distributions across various chest types
  • Calculate expected value and volatility of rewards
  • Ensure long-term fairness and player satisfaction

 

Crafting Economy Balance

 

  • Model crafting systems and resource conversion loops
  • Calculate cost-to-benefit ratios for crafting mechanics
  • Ensure crafting paths remain viable but do not undermine monetization
  • Design resource sinks to prevent inflation

 

Player Progression Modeling

 

  • Build mathematical models of player growth and progression
  • Estimate time and resource requirements to reach key milestones
  • Design pacing systems for early, mid, and late-game stages
  • Support retention through optimized progression curves

 

Monetization & iGaming Mechanics

 

  • Implement probabilistic monetization mechanics inspired by iGaming models
  • Define RTP (Return to Player) targets and reward volatility levels
  • Balance monetization loops while maintaining perceived fairness
  • Support revenue optimization without damaging long-term retention

 

Simulation & Testing

 

  • Develop simulation models to stress-test the in-game economy
  • Run large-scale iterations to identify inflation or imbalance risks
  • Validate economic sustainability over long player lifecycles
  • Provide data-driven recommendations for economy tuning

 

✅ Requirements

 

  • Strong background in:

     

    • Probability Theory
    • Combinatorics
    • Mathematical Statistics

     

  • Advanced expertise in building complex models in:

     

    • Excel / Google Sheets

     

  • Experience with game economy balancing (preferably in):

     

    • Slots / iGaming
    • RPG
    • Crafting or Survival games

     

  • Understanding of player psychology:

     

    • Ability to balance “quick wins” vs resource challenges

     

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset

 

 

Nice to Have

 

  • Experience with Monte-Carlo simulations
  • Python scripting skills
  • Experience in F2P mobile game economies
  • Familiarity with retention and monetization loops
  • Experience in AR or location-based games
