Middle/Senior BI Developer (SQL Server + Power BI)

We are looking for a Middle/Senior BI Developer (SQL Server + Power BI) to join an internal analytics project for a US-based insurance company. 

The role focuses on building and improving the existing BI platform, working with SQL-based data marts and Power BI dashboards used by company management.

The project is an internal analytics and BI platform for management reporting.
Data sources are stored in Microsoft SQL Server (data mart), while reporting and visualization are built in Power BI.

The platform is already in production but requires significant improvements in data transformations, ETL logic, and dashboard development, which will be the main focus during the first months.

Engagement type: Freelancer
Allocation: Full-time for the first 2–3 months (high workload at the start). Possible transition to part-time / ad-hoc afterward

Responsibilities:

• Fix missing data transformations and resolve data inconsistencies
• Develop and optimize ETL / SQL logic for single-source analytical tables
• Design and maintain Power BI data models (semantic modeling, DAX)
• Create and support Power BI dashboards and visualizations following existing design templates and mobile standards
• Optimize SQL performance and data structures for reporting
• Collaborate with the client’s main point of contact to translate business requirements into BI metrics and dashboards

Requirements

• 3–5+ years of experience with Microsoft SQL Server
• Strong T-SQL skills (query optimization, analytical tables, views)
• Experience with Power BI development (data modeling, DAX, dashboards)
• Experience working with SQL-based data marts
• Ability to structure and prepare data for BI reporting

• Upper-Intermediate English (communication with the client)
