Chief Engineer (miltech)

About the Role

The Chief Designer holds ultimate responsibility for the technical integrity, reliability, and innovation of the rocket system — from concept through flight testing. This is a position for an engineering leader who combines deep technical expertise with the ability to manage a team and drive a complex project to completion.

Responsibilities

• Define the technical strategy and system architecture; approve key design decisions
• Lead conceptual and detailed design processes; coordinate subsystems (propulsion, avionics, structures)
• Drive adoption of innovative technologies and materials to improve performance and reduce costs
• Lead and mentor the engineering team: task allocation, quality control, and professional development
• Plan project schedules, manage technical risks, and report status to senior leadership
• Develop and approve ground, bench, and flight test programs, including success criteria
• Oversee subsystem integration, analyze test results, and make critical design decisions
• Ensure complete design and operational documentation; maintain compliance with industry standards and safety regulations

Requirements

• Higher technical degree in aerospace engineering, rocket engineering, or a related discipline
• 5+ years of experience in the design and development of rocket or aerospace systems
• Strong knowledge of subsystem design principles: propulsion, avionics, and structural engineering
• Proven experience managing engineering teams and full-cycle technical projects
• Solid understanding of testing, validation, and certification processes for complex systems
• Willingness to travel: test range in Kyiv Oblast and production sites across Ukraine
