Solutions Architect – Digital Banking

We are supporting a large-scale digital banking transformation programme and are looking for an experienced Solutions Architect to lead the architecture of modern mobile and omnichannel banking platforms.

Location

We are primarily considering candidates based in:

• Spain
• Portugal
• Eastern Europe

Key Responsibilities

• Define and lead the solution architecture for digital banking platforms, including mobile and omnichannel services
• Produce and maintain High-Level Design (HLD) and Low-Level Design (LLD) documentation
• Design and guide microservices-based architectures for scalable, high-availability systems
• Work closely with engineering teams to ensure architectural designs are properly implemented
• Collaborate with product, security, and infrastructure teams to align architecture with functional and non-functional requirements
• Ensure solutions comply with Open Banking standards, banking security practices, and regulatory requirements
• Support API-driven architectures and integrations across digital banking ecosystems
• Communicate architectural decisions clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Contribute to architecture governance within a multi-vendor enterprise programme

Requirements

• 15+ years of experience in IT, including 7+ years as a Solutions Architect
• Strong experience designing architectures for digital banking platforms (mobile or omnichannel preferred)
• Proven expertise in microservices architecture
• Experience with Java-based backend ecosystems
• Familiarity with React-based digital platforms
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure cloud architecture
• Knowledge of Open Banking frameworks and banking application security
• Experience designing high-performance, high-availability distributed systems
• Ability to produce clear HLD and LLD architecture documentation
• Experience using architecture modeling tools such as UML, Draw.io, or PlantUML
• Strong stakeholder management and collaboration skills
• English level C1 or higher

Nice to Have

• Experience working on large-scale digital banking transformation programmes
• Experience supporting mobile banking platforms
• Strong background in API-first architecture within financial services

Working Model

• First month: On-site in Dublin, Ireland, to collaborate with key stakeholders and align on the architectural foundations of the programme.
• After the initial month: The role will transition to fully remote work.

All travel and accommodation for the Dublin visit will be fully arranged and covered by the company.
