System Analyst (Power BI / .NET)

Our customer is a privately held financial services consulting firm providing services in the following sectors:

• Direct lending
• Commercial real estate
• Residential mortgages
• Structured & specialty finance

Its clients include the world's leading asset managers, insurance companies, institutional investors, service providers, law firms, and banks.

The client operates multiple enterprise .NET applications in the mortgage origination and fund management domains.

Key characteristics of the system:

• Built on Microsoft .NET Web technology stack with MS SQL Server database
• Deployed in Microsoft Azure IaaS / PaaS services
• Full development lifecycle supported across Development / Test / QA / UAT / Production environments
• Agile development methodology with JIRA used for requirements and project management
• Applications are already in production with ongoing enhancements and new functionality

Position Overview:

We are looking for a System Analyst with Power BI and .NET experience to join our team in a team extension model and work closely with the client’s team.

The role focuses on analyzing financial data flows, supporting BI reporting, and translating business requirements into system and data specifications.

The client's office operates in the EST time zone, and participation in daily stand-ups and planning meetings will be required.

The platform processes financial data from multiple sources to calculate positions, cash flows, net present values, expenses, interest, principal repayments, and other analytics. The processed data is stored in databases and used to generate reports in Excel, PDF, and Business Intelligence dashboards.
Currently, Power BI is used as the primary analytics platform.

Key Responsibilities:

• Analyze business requirements related to financial data processing and reporting
• Translate business needs into functional and system specifications
• Work with developers to design and improve data models, reporting logic, and system workflows
• Support and improve Power BI reports, dashboards, and reporting templates
• Analyze and optimize large-scale financial reports containing hundreds of thousands of records
• Work with data ingestion processes including APIs and flat file imports
• Define and validate data structures and transformations used in reporting and analytics
• Collaborate with developers, QA engineers, and stakeholders to ensure consistent system functionality
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and support ongoing system enhancements
   

Required Skills:

• 3-5 years of experience in system analysis, data analysis, or BI-related roles
• Understanding of .NET-based enterprise systems
• Experience working with Microsoft Power BI
• Strong understanding of SQL and relational databases
• Experience analyzing data flows, reporting logic, and system integrations
• Ability to work with APIs, data imports, and external data sources
• Understanding of financial or analytical reporting systems
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with distributed teams
• Experience working in Agile environments

Nice to Have

• Experience with Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)
• Experience with Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
• Familiarity with Azure cloud environments
• Experience with financial or investment analytics systems
