Chief Marketing Officer (CMO)

We are looking for a strategic, hands-on Chief Marketing Officer to build and scale the marketing function for an iGaming operator.

This role is not about managing a single channel β€” it’s about creating a full marketing system: acquisition β†’ retention β†’ monetization, with clear ownership, strong processes, and measurable revenue impact.

You will report directly to the founders and take full responsibility for marketing strategy, execution, team growth, and P&L. A key part of the role is building the affiliate direction from scratch, with a strong focus on Tier 1 regulated markets and compliance.

Responsibilities

Acquisition (Traffic & Growth)

  • Own end-to-end acquisition strategy for Tier 1 markets (volume, quality, CAC)
  • Build the affiliate function from zero: partners, platform, onboarding, processes, KPIs
  • Manage paid channels (Google, Meta, display networks) with strict compliance standards
  • Lead and scale Media Buying (already in place) and optimize funnel performance
  • Drive SEO strategy together with the existing SEO team
  • Develop partnerships with platforms, streamers, influencers, and external ecosystems
  • Implement AI and automation tools to improve speed, scalability, and ROI
  • Build a balanced channel mix and reduce dependency on a single traffic source

Retention (CRM & Player Lifecycle)

  • Build and execute retention strategy to increase engagement and LTV
  • Work with external CRM and SaaS tools (e.g., Castor)
  • Set up player communications across email, push, SMS, in-app, etc.
  • Collaborate with support/retention tools (Zendesk and others)
  • Drive segmentation, personalization, and lifecycle mechanics

Monetization

  • Own monetization mechanics: cross-sell, upsell, promo strategy
  • Work closely with Sales and commercial teams
  • Ensure data-driven decisions (cohorts, ARPU, ROI, funnels)
  • Align affiliate activity with revenue performance and long-term value

Teams, Processes & Leadership

  • Build and scale the marketing organization (up to 40 people in Year 1)
  • Manage 5–6 direct reports (Head of Affiliate, Head of Media, CRM/Retention Lead, etc.)
  • Build the marketing operating model: structure, planning cycles, reporting
  • Define KPIs, performance standards, and execution processes
  • Own 7+ figure marketing budgets, forecasting, and planning
  • Report directly to founders and support strategic decision-making

Requirements

Must-have

  • Proven experience with Tier 1 regulated markets (mandatory)
  • Experience in an iGaming operator (not only agencies/providers)
  • Strong understanding of compliance and regulatory restrictions in marketing
  • Hands-on experience building and scaling affiliate programs
  • Track record of scaling marketing teams and leading cross-functional structures
  • Strong understanding of unit economics: LTV/CAC, retention, ROI
  • Experience managing 7-figure marketing budgets
  • Strong English (written and spoken)

Technical understanding

  • SEO fundamentals and performance management
  • Media buying and paid traffic operations
  • Affiliate platforms and tracking logic
  • CRM/retention tools and player lifecycle mechanics
  • Analytics: BI dashboards, cohort analysis, funnels, ARPU, NGR, ROI
