Embedded Support and Maintenance Engineer

MilTech 🪖

We are a British—Ukrainian air defence tech company building distributed systems deployed across real frontline environments. Our devices are already operating in the field, and we are expanding the team responsible for their stability, diagnostics, and remote administration.

Our core value is impact for Ukraine: we build technology that makes a real difference on the battlefield, not in labs or on paper specs. We operate with a deep-tech mindset, where reliability, responsibility, and operational stability truly matter.

We are looking for an Embedded Support & Maintenance Engineer who will take ownership of the health and stability of deployed field equipment, handle diagnostics, and ensure systems remain operational through remote support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitoring & Support: Remote monitoring of deployed devices (Linux-based, Raspberry Pi, ESP32 with network access).
  • SSH Administration: Work in terminal, analyze system logs, check resource usage (CPU, RAM, Storage).
  • Network Operations: Check internet connection stability, diagnose communication issues, work with MikroTik network equipment (status checks, basic configuration).
  • Basic Troubleshooting: Identify causes of failures, remotely restart services or devices, update configurations.
  • Collaborate with Developers: Escalate complex bugs to the development team with clear problem descriptions and logs.

What We Expect From You

  • Confident Linux knowledge: Command line is your primary tool.
  • Understanding of network protocols: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, understanding of how VPN and SSH tunnels work.
  • Analytical mindset: Ability to quickly find the needed entry in massive logs.
  • Basic understanding of Python/Bash: Ability to read simple scripts or write small automation tools.
  • English level: Intermediate or higher

Nice to Have

  • Experience with MikroTik: ability to access via Winbox/WebFig/Terminal, check interface status and connection state.
  • Experience with monitoring systems (Zabbix, Grafana, Prometheus).
  • Understanding of Embedded device specifics (STM32/ESP32).
  • Experience with Docker (viewing container logs, restarting).

We Offer

  • Meaningful, high-impact work: your work directly contributes to Ukraine’s air defence.
  • Deep-tech engineering challenges: work outside the civilian sector with a strong focus on reliability and operational stability.
  • High ownership and influence: real impact on system health, stability, and operational continuity.
  • Work format: office-based role in Kyiv (city center) with hands-on access to devices and close collaboration with engineering teams.
  • Employment type: full-time position.
  • Working hours: standard business hours; occasional involvement outside usual hours for critical incidents.
  • Team environment: work in an experienced senior engineering team.
  • Communication: clear, fast, senior-to-senior communication with minimal meetings.
