SaaS Platform Architect (AI engineering is a plus)
US Company is searching for a SaaS Platform Architect. Interesting project, distributed team, full-time, an official contract. Remote work, CET business hours.
Brief project description:
- The product is a complex platform with applications realized like SaaS, which perform multiple functions for improving Safety, Sustainability and Productivity (works planning / incident management / monitoring & analytics) on high-risky industries: oil & gas gathering and transportation, chemical, building, energy market.
Main Responsibilities:
- Architect and build a secure, scalable multi-tenant SaaS platform on Azure.
- Make pragmatic architecture calls (monolith vs microservices) based on constraints, maturity, and outcomes.
- Implement resilient services : horizontal scaling, async processing, caching.
- Build for production from day one: observability, reliability, cost control, and operational excellence.
- Raise the engineering bar through pairing, code reviews, and clear technical direction.
Must-Have Requirements:
Mindset (Key traits):
- High Agency: You embrace ambiguity, drive decisions, and take extreme ownership of outcomes.
- Continuous Learner: You stay current with new technologies and patterns (including new AI/GenAI related technologies ). You tinker with new tech on weekends because you love it.
Pragmatic: You balance "boring technology" stability with modern AI-driven innovation.
Cloud & Platform (Azure)
- Deep, hands-on Azure experience: Azure Container Apps, App Services, Functions, Service Bus, Azure SQL/Postgres, Front Door
- Designing and building multi-tenant SaaS architectures (you've shipped, not just designed)
- Scalability patterns: horizontal scaling, async processing, caching, sharding
- Microservices, event-driven systems, and knowing when a monolith is actually the right call
Hands-On Technical Skills
- You code: Proficient in at least one of C#/.NET, Java, Python, or TypeScript
- Modern Auth/Authz: You've designed and implemented modern authentication/authorization using the OpenID Connect Protocol and OAuth2.
- Cloud Security: You are familiar with common attack vectors to web applications (OWASP top 10), and know how to design software that is secure by default.
Communication & Collaboration
- Great Communicator: You can explain complex AI/Cloud concepts to non-technical stakeholders clearly.
- Flexible & Adaptable: You hold "strong opinions, loosely held." You adapt quickly when requirements or technology shifts.
- Mentorship: You elevate the team's bar through code reviews, pairing, and design discussions, not just edicts.
Considered as a BIG plus:
- Databricks: Unity Catalog, Delta Lake, Workflows, Databricks SQL
- Deep integration of Azure OpenAI / LLMs into production workflows
- Advanced RAG patterns
- Agentic workflows and tool-calling architectures
Work conditions:
- Distributed team, remote work.
- Kanban or scrum approach, 5-6 team members / team.
- Full-time (40 hours per week).
- Official contract: salary, sick-leave days, holidays, vacations.
Hiring process:
- Step 1 - preliminary interview (main questions) - 30 mins
- Step 2 - internal tech interview (tech questions) - 40-50 mins
- Step 3 - tech interview with team leader and architect - 1 hour
