Lead AI Engineer

About the Role:

We are looking for a Lead AI Engineer to join a fast-growing US e-commerce project where AI is not an experiment but a core business driver. You will lead the design and implementation of AI-powered systems (with a strong focus on RAG-based solutions) that directly impact customer experience, personalization, search, and operational efficiency. This is a hands-on leadership role with real ownership over technical decisions and architecture.

What You’ll Do

• Lead the design, development, and evolution of AI-driven features in a production-grade e-commerce platform
• Architect and implement Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines using modern LLM ecosystems
• Own end-to-end AI solutions: from data ingestion and retrieval layers to LLM orchestration and APIs
• Collaborate closely with product, backend, and frontend teams to translate business needs into scalable AI systems
• Establish best practices for AI engineering, including evaluation, monitoring, and performance optimization
• Mentor engineers and act as a technical leader in AI-related decisions
• Stay ahead of the curve on LLM tooling, frameworks, and emerging AI patterns

What We’re Looking For:

• Strong software engineering background with experience building scalable, production systems
• Deep hands-on experience with RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) frameworks and architectures
• Proficiency with AI/ML frameworks such as LangChain, Google ADK, or equivalent LLM orchestration tools
• Solid understanding of LLM behavior, embeddings, vector databases, and prompt engineering
• Experience integrating AI solutions into real-world products, not just prototypes
• Experience leading or mentoring engineers in a technical capacity
