Engineering Manager for Games
🎯 What you’ll do:
- own the technical delivery of game teams from idea to live operations:
- write and review production code regularly
- design and evolve game systems
- step into complex technical problems when they matter
- ensure games are stable, performant, and shippable
You’ll run the full lifecycle: discovery → implementation → QA → release → live ops. You’ll work closely with engineers, QA, product, and art - not as a coordinator, but as a technical decision-maker.
This is not a people-heavy management role. Leadership comes from technical ownership and example.
🔧 How hands-on is this? Very.
- commit code to production
- review architecture and PRs
- debug live issues
- pair with engineers on hard problems
🧠 What you bring
- strong hands-on engineering background
- experience owning production systems
- comfort with live releases and real users
- technical credibility with senior engineers
Strong plus
- Games / iGaming / real-time products
- Live Ops or high-availability systems
🧰 Tech context
- JavaScript / TypeScript
- Node.js
- Game or frontend-facing systems (Pixi.js / Phaser.js / Canvas / WebGL)
👉 This is not for you if
- You don’t code anymore
- You want a people-management-only role
You prefer coordination over engineering
👉 This is for you if
You want to lead teams through technical strength, ship real products, and stay close to the code while having more impact.
