Engineering Manager (Platform)
The core of our achievements is our team. We believe in people and shared values SELECT. That’s why, together with Vladyslav Kiriushkin - Engineering Manager at Platform tribe, we’re looking for an Engineering Manager to join our new team transforming the EdTech industry.
What will you do:
- Lead a new team as Engineering Manager and take ownership of delivering the MVP for a new Payments Product: ship the first version, prove value, and take it to production with measurable outcomes.
- Be hands-on early: partner with the team as a strong IC to shape architecture, unblock delivery, and set a high engineering bar.
- Build the technical foundation for a mission-critical product: correctness-oriented workflows, reliable integrations, and production-grade observability.
- Make it reliable from day one: safe rollouts (feature flags, gradual traffic), incident readiness, and an SLO mindset.
- Drive cross-team delivery: align dependencies across Engineering, Product, Finance, and other stakeholders; coordinate changes to existing systems.
Build the team: hiring, onboarding, team shape, execution cadence, feedback culture, and stakeholder management.
What do you need to join us:
- 7+ years of backend engineering experience, with ownership of production services end-to-end.;
- Strong experience building distributed systems (APIs, async processing, databases) and operating them (monitoring, debugging, incidents);
- Proven ability to lead technical decisions and deliver through ambiguity (trade-offs, staged rollout, migrations).;
Security fundamentals: secrets management, access control, threat-aware design.
Would be a plus:
- Experience building financial/transactional workflows with high correctness requirements: idempotency, clear state transitions, audit logs, and safe failure handling.
Experience in payments/fintech/billing/risk, or heavy third-party integrations.
Challenges you will face:
- High stakes + ambiguity: you’ll lead a new product area where correctness and reliability matter, while the MVP-to-platform roadmap is still evolving.
- Hands-on EM reality: balancing management responsibilities with being deeply involved in early architecture and delivery.
- Cross-team coordination: success depends on aligning multiple teams and stakeholders, managing dependencies, and driving decisions when priorities compete.
Building while shipping: hiring and forming the team while simultaneously delivering production outcomes.
