Backend Engineer (PHP / Laravel)

We are looking for an experienced Backend Engineer to develop and maintain our core API and backend services.

You will work on optimising performance, extending existing functionality, and building new endpoints and algorithms that power our platform.
 

You’ll collaborate closely with engineers and stakeholders across the business and have a real impact on both the product and company culture in a fast-growing startup.
 

Responsibilities
 

• Develop and maintain an evolving backend application
• Design, stabilise, and optimise RESTful APIs and services
• Support integration between the client application and backend
• Focus on performance, scalability, and code quality
• Write clean, maintainable code following best practices
   

Requirements
 

• 5+ years of experience with PHP / Laravel
• Strong experience building RESTful APIs and distributed services
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to code quality
• Fluent English and ability to work independently and within a team
   

Nice to have
 

• Deep knowledge of PHP/Laravel best practices
• Experience with modular or custom frameworks
• Agile experience
• Interest in fitness, health, or medicine
• Experience with Docker, Composer, GitHub, Postman, Atlassian, Linux
• Overlap with GMT+1 working hours
• Clear technical documentation skills
