Principal Unreal Engine Architect / Tech Director

About the role

We are building a next-generation UE5 game with a strong focus on scalable architecture, advanced systems, and AI-driven gameplay.

We are looking for a Principal Unreal Engine Architect / Tech Director who will own the technical foundation of the project and help assemble and guide a senior engineering team.

 

Responsibilities

  • Define and own UE5 project architecture
  • Make core technical decisions (engine systems, performance budgets, pipelines)
  • Design systems that scale (AI, gameplay, content, tooling)
  • Establish coding standards, code review process, and technical guidelines
  • Support and mentor senior engineers
  • Work closely with gameplay, AI, and content teams
  • Identify and mitigate technical risks early

 

Requirements

  • 10+ years professional programming experience
  • Strong Unreal Engine 4/5 C++ background
  • Experience as Tech Director / Principal Engineer / Lead Architect
  • Multiple shipped projects (PC / Console)
  • Deep understanding of:
    • Engine architecture
    • Performance & optimization
    • Production pipelines
  • Comfortable owning high-impact technical decisions

 

Nice to have

  • Experience with AI gameplay systems
  • Multiplayer-aware architecture (even if SP-focused)
  • Experience building or scaling teams
  • Teaching / mentoring background
