Game Audio Developer (Wwise)

We’re looking for an experienced Game Audio Developer to design and implement a reusable airport ambience audio system using Audiokinetic Wwise for Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020 / 2024).

 

This is a technical audio systems role — not music composition. You will focus on building scalable, data-driven audio behaviours that react dynamically to the environment, camera, and player context.

 

✈️ Project Overview

The goal is to create a modular, reusable airport ambience system that can be deployed across multiple airports and locations within MSFS.
The system should adapt intelligently to:

  • Player position and proximity
  • Camera view (cockpit / external / drone)
  • Weather conditions
  • Time of day
  • Airport zones and activity levels

 

🛠 Responsibilities

  • Design and build Wwise sound banks and audio hierarchies for airport ambience
  • Implement spatialized and proximity-based audio (3D positioning, attenuation, occlusion)
  • Create state- and parameter-driven audio logic (RTPCs, switches, states)
  • Implement dynamic ambience variation based on:
    • Location / zones (terminal, apron, runway, ramp)
    • Weather (wind, rain, storms)
    • Time of day (day/night transitions)
    • Camera mode (interior vs exterior)
  • Optimize audio performance and memory usage
  • Deliver a clean, documented system that can be reused and extended
  • Collaborate with developers and designers to ensure seamless integration

 

✅ Required Experience

  • Strong experience with Audiokinetic Wwise
  • Proven background in technical sound design or audio programming
  • Experience implementing interactive audio systems in games or simulations
  • Solid understanding of 3D audio, spatialization, attenuation, and RTPC workflows
  • Ability to design scalable, reusable audio systems, not one-off sound setups

  • Experience with Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020 / 2024)
  • Experience with Unity or Unreal Engine audio pipelines
  • Familiarity with simulation or realism-focused projects
  • Experience optimizing audio for performance in large-scale environments
  • Knowledge of aviation soundscapes or airport operations
