Senior PHP Developer

Smart-Dato is a product-focused company building scalable, data-driven platforms. We are looking for a Senior Laravel Developer to take ownership of backend development and architecture.

What you’ll do

• Design, develop, and maintain Laravel-based backend systems
• Take ownership of API architecture (REST / JSON APIs)
• Improve performance, scalability, and security of existing services
• Work with databases (MySQL / PostgreSQL) and optimize queries
• Implement background jobs, queues, and scheduled tasks
• Write clean, testable, and well-documented code
• Review code and mentor other developers
• Collaborate with frontend, QA, and product stakeholders
• Participate in architectural and technical decisions

What we expect

• 5+ years of professional PHP development
• Strong Laravel expertise (Laravel 9+ is a big plus)
• Solid understanding of:
  • OOP, SOLID principles, design patterns
  • RESTful API design
  • Queues, events, jobs, caching
• Experience with:
  • MySQL / PostgreSQL
  • Redis
  • Docker (basic to advanced)
• Comfortable working with Git and CI/CD pipelines
• Experience writing automated tests (PHPUnit / Pest)
• Ability to work independently and take technical ownership
• Good communication skills in English

Nice to have

• Experience with:
  • Microservices or modular monoliths
  • AWS / DigitalOcean / cloud infrastructure
  • Frontend frameworks (Vue / React) on a basic level
• Experience working in product-oriented teams
• Background in data-heavy or SaaS platforms
