We’re growing our engineering organization and looking for a Python and Browser Automation Developer who enjoys building sophisticated systems, solving novel automation problems, and contributing within a tight-knit, results-focused team of highly skilled engineers.
 

What You’ll Work On

You’ll be a key contributor to Sembly’s next-generation browser automation platform — powering thousands of autonomous agents and the distributed systems that support them. You’ll work closely with a senior, experienced engineering group that cares deeply about quality, clarity, and impact.
 

Key Responsibilities

• Design and evolve the core automation engine:
  • Complex browser-automation scenarios and agent execution flows
  • Distributed scale-set orchestration and platform components
• Collaborate with a team of senior engineers on architectural decisions across automation, reliability, and performance
• Solve deep technical challenges, including:
  • Ensuring robustness across unpredictable web environments
  • Maintaining stability and performance at scale
  • Optimizing internal tooling and execution pipelines
• Conduct hands-on R&D to push system capabilities, reliability, and throughput
• Build internal frameworks and abstractions that amplify the team’s productivity
• Diagnose and refine system behaviors in long-running, high-scale environments
• Take full ownership of major features and system modules in a highly autonomous environment
   

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional Python experience with strong engineering fundamentals
• Solid understanding of:
  • Software design principles and refactoring best practices
  • Async IO and Python’s concurrency models
  • Docker and cloud-native environments
  • HTTP, HTML/DOM, JavaScript fundamentals, CSS, XPath
• Ability to design clean system boundaries and simplify complex problems
• Strong problem-solving ability, attention to detail, and a craftsmanship mindset
• Enjoy working within a focused, experienced engineering team where quality and results matter
   

Nice to Have

• Experience with Playwright, Puppeteer, or Selenium
• Familiarity with event-driven or state-machine architectures
• Experience with:
  • Azure Cloud
  • FastAPI, Redis, Celery
  • AI-assisted development workflows
• Background designing internal tooling or frameworks
• Contributions to large refactoring, modernization, or system redesign efforts
• Experience mentoring or influencing technical decisions
