Software Architect in Energy Domain (IRC280758)

Job Description

• 7+ years in software engineering, including 3+ years architecting systems in the energy sector (generation and/or T&D).
• Proven delivery of on-prem/edge platforms in regulated OT environments with production SLAs.
• Track record designing secure and resilient microservice ecosystems (zero-trust principles, network policies, IDS/IPS/WAF integration, hardened images, SBOMs).
• Experience leading cross-functional design (product, security, data, OT engineers) and producing reference architectures, ADRs, and runbooks.

Job Responsibilities

• Own the architecture for energy solutions across plant, substation, and control-center contexts (on-prem, edge, and hybrid cloud).
• Define NFRs (availability, latency, throughput, durability, safety) and translate them into concrete designs, SLOs, and capacity plans.
• Model the domain (CIM-aligned data contracts, asset & telemetry models) and standardize APIs/SDKs for SCADA/EMS/DMS/DERMS/AMI integrations.
• Secure by design: lead threat modeling and risk assessments; enforce segmentation, IAM/PKI, secrets management, SBOM & supply-chain controls, change management (CAB/ECAB), and patch windows suitable for OT.
• Engineer stability: choose resilience patterns, HA/DR topologies, message durability, graceful degradation, and chaos/fault-injection drills; validate with load/soak and failover tests.
• Review code and IaC (Terraform/Helm/Ansible), establish CI/CD for air-gapped or low-connectivity sites (artifact mirrors, signing, provenance).
• Standardize metrics/logs/traces (Prometheus/Grafana/Otel), set alerts tied to SLIs, and define runbooks and RCA processes.
• Oversee streaming ETL from field devices to historian/time-series DB; ensure data quality, retention, and governance.
• Support NERC CIP/IEC 62443/ISO 27001 evidence, policy mapping, and periodic assessments.
• Collaborate with operators, cyber security, and asset managers; present architecture to technical and business audiences.
