Sound Designer (iGaming / Casino Slot Projects)

📍 Location: [City / Remote]

🎯 Role Summary

We are seeking a creative, technically skilled, and detail-oriented Sound Designer with proven experience in the iGaming or social casino industry to elevate the audio experience of our slot machine games. You will be responsible for defining, creating, mixing, and implementing all audio assets—from compelling main-game loops and celebratory win effects to the intricate UI sounds—that drive player engagement and emotional response.

🔑 Key Responsibilities

I. Creative Sound Design & Composition

  • Audio Concepting: Define the sonic identity, style, and intensity for new slot titles based on game themes, target markets, and creative briefs.
  • Sound Effect Creation: Design, synthesize, record, edit, and master a wide range of original sound effects (SFX) for reel spins, button clicks, stops, feature triggers, big wins, ambient backgrounds, and unique bonus events.
  • Music Composition: Compose, arrange, and produce original musical scores and loops that establish mood, build tension during play, and climax during major wins.
  • Audio Branding: Ensure that the game's core audio elements are instantly recognizable, highly satisfying, and contribute to the overall brand experience.
  • Foley & Library Management: Utilize and manage commercial sound libraries and custom recordings to create high-quality, genre-appropriate audio assets.

II. Technical Implementation & Optimization

  • Integration: Implement and optimize all audio assets directly into the game engine or middleware (e.g., Unity, proprietary engine, Wwise/FMOD is a plus) with proper triggers and spatial positioning.
  • Synchronization: Work closely with 2D Animators and Developers to achieve perfect audio-visual synchronization, particularly for reel animations, character reactions, and win celebrations.
  • Mixing & Pacing: Perform final mixing and mastering to ensure audio clarity, prevent clipping, and establish a dynamic range that enhances player excitement without fatigue. Crucially, master the fast-paced, cyclical audio requirements unique to slot games.
  • Technical Compliance: Adhere to all technical specifications, file formats, and optimization requirements for diverse platforms (mobile, desktop, cabinet) to maintain performance and memory budgets.

III. Collaboration & Review

  • Cross-Functional Teamwork: Collaborate effectively with Art Directors, Game Designers, and Software Engineers to align the audio vision with the overall game design and technical constraints.
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough playtesting and QA to identify and troubleshoot audio bugs, volume discrepancies, and integration issues, ensuring flawless functionality prior to launch.
  • Feedback Integration: Clearly present audio work for review and iterate quickly based on constructive feedback from team leads and project stakeholders.

✅ Required Skills & Experience

  • 2+ Years of Professional Sound Design Experience in the iGaming, Casino, or Video Game industries is mandatory.
  • Expert Proficiency in a Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) such as Pro Tools, Reaper, Logic Pro X, or Ableton Live.
  • Strong Music Theory and Composition Skills across a variety of genres to suit diverse slot themes.
  • Deep Understanding of Psychoacoustics and Player Engagement—specifically how sound, rhythm, and anticipation drive excitement in a gambling/slot context.
  • Proven ability to work with and manipulate sound libraries, synthesizers, and production plugins.
  • Excellent technical understanding of digital audio properties, formats, mixing, and mastering techniques for games.
  • Exceptional communication skills, high level of self-organization, and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • A compelling professional audio demo reel showcasing relevant slot game or highly repetitive/looping interactive audio work is essential.

➕ Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with interactive audio middleware (Wwise or FMOD).
  • Familiarity with the Unity game engine's audio implementation workflow.
  • Experience with voice-over editing and processing.
  • A background in audio engineering or acoustic treatment.
