Senior Programmer / Technical Generalist
We need a real computer person who can code, solve problems, and lead small teams. You are a senior, hands-on professional who can take projects from start to finish with minimal supervision. You will work across several Ashlex companies (consulting, hosting, BPO, and nonprofit). You plan the work, do the job, guide others, and report clear results.
You will report directly to the Director of Technology. This is not an entry-level position that you can Google your way through.
What You’ll Do
Lead small projects end-to-end (plan, build, test, deliver) alone or with a small team.
Write clean code and scripts
Build and fix web apps, APIs, and integrations (REST/webhooks).
Provide technical support for WordPress/Shopify as needed to the inhouse staff
Set up and maintain servers and cloud (Linux, DNS, SSL, backups, monitoring).
Read documentation, figure things out fast, and unblock yourself.
Diagnose challenging problems across frontend, backend, database, and infrastructure.
Lead small teams: assign tasks, review code, coach juniors, keep timelines.
Create simple SOPs and improve processes.
Track time and tasks; hit deadlines.
Must-Have Skills
5+ years in a senior programmer/technical role.
Strong programming skills
Docker basics; CI/CD (GitLab/GitHub).
Solid Git workflow (branches, merge requests, reviews).
Linux admin basics (SSH, Nginx/Apache, firewalls, logs).
Can read technical docs quickly and apply them without hand-holding.
Proven experience leading small teams (2–6 people) on real projects.
Clear English (written and spoken).
Daily overlap with New York mornings (3–4 hours).
Full-time, long-term, remote (Philippines).
