Web Accessibility Expert
About the Project:
We are hiring on behalf of our client, who is developing an AI system designed to interpret and evaluate the accessibility of digital interfaces. The system will be trained on a high-quality ground truth dataset, consisting of manually annotated answers to questions about WCAG, ARIA, and common UI patterns.
This is the first technical role on the annotation team. You will be responsible for establishing annotation standards, ensuring high-quality structured data, and potentially leading a team in the future.
Responsibilities:
• Review accessibility-related questions and break answers into atomic factual statements (claims)
• Label each claim by type: Critical, Nice-to-Have, Code Snippet, Special Case, or Sentiment
• Categorize each question across four dimensions: Domain, Intent, Platform, Content
• Validate and improve both textual and code-based responses according to accessibility standards
• Ensure full semantic correctness in areas like HTML structure, ARIA attributes, UI behavior, and screen reader compatibility
• Contribute to the annotation methodology and assist in onboarding future annotators
Requirements:
• 2–4+ years of experience in either frontend development or QA engineering with a strong focus on web interfaces
• Deep understanding of semantic HTML, ARIA roles and attributes, and accessible UI patterns (tabs, accordions, modals, etc.)
• Strong knowledge of WCAG 2.1/2.2, keyboard navigation, landmark roles, and screen reader behavior
• Confident in reading and editing code snippets related to accessibility
• Hands-on experience using accessibility testing tools such as axe DevTools, Lighthouse, NVDA, and VoiceOver
• Experience in writing technical documentation or mentoring others
• Excellent written English (all annotations and comments are in English)
• Strictly manual analysis only — the use of LLMs such as ChatGPT is prohibited
