Our client, a fast-moving SaaS product in the fintech space, is looking for an experienced Backend Engineer to take ownership of the platform's backend.
As a Backend Engineer, you’ll work in a cross-functional agile team responsible for delivering the core product.
The backend has grown quickly and, as a result, accumulated some tech debt. You’ll play a key role in taking it to the next level and supporting the transition from a startup into a trusted solution for enterprise clients.
We’re looking for a Backend Engineer who thinks like a product owner and takes full ownership of the backend.
You won’t just write code, you’ll help shape the product, fix what’s slowing us down, and make important technical decisions.

The client is a US-based B2B SaaS startup headquartered in Los Angeles, California, that builds a comprehensive receivables management platform.
A small but mighty team is set on transforming receivables management and addressing the $600B overdue invoice crisis.
Founded and led by a serial FinTech entrepreneur who previously built CreditClear, a debt recovery software company that is now publicly traded in Australia.
🔹 Tech Stack
Our tech stack includes Node.js, Express.js, TypeScript, MongoDB, Mongoose, Redis, and Trigger.dev.
🔹 Responsibilities
- Design, build and run scalable backend systems using Node.js
- Develop and maintain long-term integrations with various external systems
- Collaborate closely with the product owner, designer and other engineers
- Troubleshoot bugs and implement long-term solutions
- Own full SDLC, from the first line of code to deployment and monitoring of your services in production
- Take ownership of technical decisions, ensuring alignment with business goals and long-term scalability
- Advocate for techniques and technologies that can improve our backend technology stack.
- Share knowledge with team members
🔹Required experience
- Minimum 3 years of backend experience, with 2+ years specialising in Node.js
- Experience in developing high-performance and scalable cloud services
- Experienced with automation and CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, GitHub, CI/CD practices)
- Solid experience with MongoDB optimisation and administration
Beneficial experience:
- Frontend development using modern JS frameworks like React, Vue or Angular
- Delivering solutions that use AI & ML
- Delivering cloud-native solutions on platforms like Azure, AWS or GCP
- Building software with strictly-typed OOP languages like Java or C#
- Working in an envivroment with modern DevOps practices and tools
