INTERIM COBOL / Host Software Engineer Offline

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain host-based applications using COBOL.
• Perform module integration, testing, and deployment on mainframe systems.
• Work with MQ middleware to ensure reliable communication between distributed systems and host environments.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, design solutions, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
• Conduct code reviews, debugging, and troubleshooting to ensure software quality and stability.
• Maintain and optimize legacy systems while contributing to modernization initiatives.
• Document technical solutions and processes for future support and maintenance.

Tech Stack & Tools:

• COBOL (Mainframe development)
• SWT (Eclipse IDz) for development environment
• GIT, Bitbucket, Jenkins for version control and CI/CD pipelines
• MQ Middleware for message-oriented communication
• SQL (DB2) for database interactions

Required Skills:

• Proven experience in COBOL mainframe development.
• Solid understanding of host-based architectures and enterprise system workflows.
• Experience with MQ middleware integration and troubleshooting.
• Proficient in using modern development tools like Eclipse IDz, GIT, and Jenkins.
• Strong knowledge of SQL (DB2) for data handling within host environments.
• Ability to analyze, design, and implement complex enterprise solutions.
• Familiarity with regulatory and compliance-driven development processes.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Nice to Have:

• Experience in host system modernization or migration projects.
• Familiarity with cloud integration or API gateways connecting to mainframe systems.
• Knowledge of Agile methodologies in a mainframe context.
