Middle to Senior Laravel Developer (5 month contract)

About the Role
We're looking for an experienced Laravel Developer (Mid–Senior level) to join our growing engineering team. You'll be responsible for developing and maintaining secure, scalable web applications and internal tools. While Laravel Nova experience is not essential, candidates with experience building custom Vue components in Nova will be viewed favourably.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain robust backend services and web applications using Laravel.
• Collaborate closely with front-end developers, designers, and product managers to build end-to-end features.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested PHP code following industry best practices.
• Optimise application performance, database queries, and overall scalability.
• Participate in peer code reviews and technical design discussions.
• Diagnose and fix bugs, performance issues, and production incidents.

Requirements

• 3+ years of hands-on experience with Laravel in production environments.
• Strong proficiency in PHP, MySQL, and Laravel’s ecosystem.
• Familiarity with front-end technologies like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
• Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs.
• Proficiency with Git and modern version control workflows.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Bonus Points

• Experience building custom components in Laravel Nova.
• Familiarity with Vue.js or other modern JavaScript frameworks.
• Working knowledge of Docker and container-based development.
• Experience with automated testing using PHPUnit or Pest.
• Exposure to Agile or Scrum development methodologies.
