Snowflake Database Administrator (DBA)

About the Product

We are building a high-load data platform (tens – hundreds TB) on Snowflake Data Cloud and are looking for an experienced administrator who will take responsibility for operations, security, and cost optimization of the storage.

Primary Responsibilities

• Operations & Performance Tuning
  • Configure virtual warehouses, resource monitors, and multi-cluster scaling
  • Fine-tune auto-suspend/auto-resume settings and other cost controls
• Data Ingestion & Streaming
  • Build and maintain pipelines with Snowpipe, Snowpipe Streaming, Streams + Tasks, and Dynamic Tables for near-real-time updates
• Apache Iceberg Support
  • Administer Snowflake-managed Iceberg tables, external storage, and ENABLE_ICEBERG_STREAMING settings
• Automation & CI/CD
  • Develop stored procedures (Snowpark Python/Java, JavaScript), infrastructure as code with Terraform or dbt, and observability dashboards through Account Usage and external APM tools
• Security & Governance
  • Implement RBAC, MFA, object tagging, dynamic masking, row-level policies, and auditing
• Business Continuity / Disaster Recovery
  • Set up cross-region and cross-account replication, manage failover/failback, and track RPO/RTO
• Consulting & Enablement
  • Advise data engineers and analysts on schema design, SQL tuning, and cost control best practices

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years as a DBA, including 3+ years administering Snowflake in production
• Deep understanding of Snowflake architecture (compute, storage, services, micro-partitioning)
• Proven experience with >50 TB datasets and 10 k+ queries/hour workloads
• Expert SQL plus Snowflake-specific features (Streams, Tasks, Dynamic Tables)
• Hands-on with Snowpark Python and JavaScript UDFs/Stored Procedures
• Snowpipe Streaming and Iceberg table administration experience
• Cost-optimization expertise (warehouse sizing, auto-suspend, credit quotas)
• CI/CD with Terraform and/or dbt; strong Linux/CLI and Git skills
• English proficiency B2 or higher (Snowflake releases monthly; you must read release notes)

Nice to Have

• SnowPro Advanced (Architect or Data Engineer) certification
• Experience with Snowflake Native Apps, Streamlit in Snowflake, or Snowpark Container Services
• Multi-cloud skills (AWS, Azure, GCP) and connector know-how (Kafka, Fivetran, Kinesis)
