RF Test Engineer Offline

Full time |Hybrid | Flexible working hours | Kyiv Office | Official Employment

Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled RF Test Engineer with deep expertise in digital and analog radio communication systems, to support integration, and testing of communication for the next-generation of unmanned systems. In this role, you will focus on the testing, configuration, tuning, and validation of communication systems for drones and robotic platforms, ensuring reliable, high-performance operation in real-world field environments. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with a wide range of communication
technologies including digital radios (Silvus, Microhard, Doodle Labs, DTC, Radionor or similar), as well as communication systems for regular FPVs (analog VTX, Crossfire, ELRS). You should also be familiar with Ardupilot or PX4 (preferably) autopilot systems, antenna module optimisation, and comfortable conducting bench and field testing. This is a highly technical role at the intersection of deep understanding of radio communication systems for unmanned solutions and robotic systems integration.

Responsibilities and Duties

● Integration, tuning and optimisation of the digital and analog radio communication systems for unmanned systems
● Perform RF bench and field testing, including range validation, signal quality analysis, interference troubleshooting, and system calibration.
● Work with PX4-based platforms to ensure seamless integration of communication modules and control systems.
● Configure RF hardware including antennas, transmitters, receivers, and supporting circuitry for robust operation.
● Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and software engineering teams to ensure communication systems meet overall design and performance requirements.
● Characterize, test, and validate antennas and RF links under various environmental and operational conditions.
● Identify and troubleshoot communication issues across multiple frequencies and protocols (e.g., IP-based links, serial radio systems, SDRs).
● Support the development of documentation for system architecture, test procedures, tuning guidelines, and compliance standards.

Qualifications and Skills

● 3+ years of experience in RF integration, preferably in robotics, UASs
● Proficient in working with digital radios such as Silvus, Microhard, Doodle Labs, DTC,
● Radionor, or similar systems, as well as communication systems for standard FPV setups, including analog VTX, Crossfire, and ELRS with Ardupilot or PX4 (preferably) autopilot systems.
● Solid understanding of antenna design, tuning, and performance optimization.
● Familiarity with RF test equipment (spectrum analyzers, SWR meter, signal generators, etc.).
● Strong analytical, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills in both lab and field conditions.
● Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, RF Engineering, or a related field.
