Senior Symfony Developer

Role Overview:
As a Senior Developer, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining and improving our core system. You'll lead efforts to migrate to a Symfony-based architecture while ensuring the stability and performance of the existing functionality. You will collaborate across teams to shape the evolution of our technology stack, contribute to front-end development, and ensure code quality through testing and best practices.
 

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain and enhance the current PHP-based custom system.
• Drive the transition from functional PHP code to a Symfony framework-based MVC architecture.
• Write and maintain unit tests using PHPUnit to ensure the reliability of critical features.
• Contribute to front-end development using TypeScript, Svelte, and the Carbon UI component library.
• Transition legacy Bootstrap 3 pages to modern, scalable front-end designs.
• Leverage Docker for local development and ensure seamless onboarding for new team members.
   

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of professional experience with PHP, including transitioning legacy systems.
• Strong expertise in Symfony or similar frameworks.
• Solid understanding of MySQL, with experience in designing and optimizing schemas.
• Proficiency in Redis for caching strategies.
• Experience with front-end technologies, including TypeScript, Svelte, Carbon UI, and Vite.
• Familiarity with Bootstrap 3 and modern CSS frameworks.
• Experience working in containerized development environments using Docker.
• Strong understanding of unit testing with PHPUnit or equivalent frameworks.
• Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills.
• Strong communication skills and ability to mentor junior developers.
   

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with Carbon UI and other modern UI component libraries.
• Experience in gradually migrating legacy codebases to modern frameworks.

Background in designing scalable, high-performance systems.
