Senior Engineering Manager - Platform Offline

We are seeking an experienced Senior Engineering Manager to lead our Platform Squads, which support the Core Platform, Core Data (including blockchain integrations), Developer Experience (DevEx), and DevOps. This role is 80% management and 20% hands-on, focusing on technical excellence, team culture, and efficient processes for scalable and reliable platform solutions.

As an Engineering Manager, you will ensure smooth workflows, align priorities with business goals, and uphold agile development best practices. You will work with a team of about 20 engineers within a broader organization of over 50, managing cross-squad dependencies and scaling processes.This is a fully remote role open to candidates across Europe.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Development:

  • Mentor engineers and leads across squads, fostering professional growth.
  • Build a collaborative team culture that promotes innovation and accountability.
  • Set clear goals, provide feedback, and ensure alignment with objectives.

Process Management:

  • Own team processes, adhering to agile methodologies and facilitating key ceremonies.
  • Manage task prioritization and execution in JIRA.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders on roadmaps and deliverables.

Technical Strategy:

  • Drive the technical vision for the Core Platform, Data Pipelines, and DevOps squads.
  • Ensure robust, scalable data pipelines, including blockchain integrations.
  • Advocate for best practices in software development and DevOps.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Partner with product managers and other stakeholders to align platform goals.
  • Work with DevOps and Developer Experience teams to enhance productivity.
  • Collaborate with Core Data squads for seamless blockchain integrations.

Operational Excellence:

  • Implement processes for high-quality, timely delivery of initiatives.
  • Monitor key performance metrics to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with security and scalability requirements.

Required Experience

  • 10+ years in software engineering, including 5+ years as a backend engineer and 3+ years in senior leadership managing multiple teams.
  • Proven experience managing a team of around 15 engineers within a 50+ engineer organization.
  • Strong technical background in system architecture, data engineering, and infrastructure management.

Skills:

  • Experience with JIRA for task management and roadmap alignment.
  • Deep understanding of agile methodologies and performance monitoring.
  • Familiarity with scalable architecture, microservices, and distributed systems.
  • Hands-on experience with data pipeline technologies and DevOps tools.

Leadership & Problem-Solving:

  • Proven ability to build and mentor high-performing teams.
  • Excellent communication skills for engaging with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical skills with a track record of solving complex challenges.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with blockchain technologies and developer tooling.
  • Passion for software engineering demonstrated through contributions to GitHub or open-source projects.
  • Experience scaling teams in a fast-paced environment.
