Senior Front-end / Middle+ Front-end Developer Offline

Job Purpose

 

As a Front End Developer, you support our merchants by building, bug-free user interfaces and experiences that help their e-commerce business thrive. You achieve this by first partnering with the Development Team Lead to review and prioritize the tasks on the backlog. After planning, you execute the task and as necessary you partner with the Development Team Lead and UI Designer in charge of the feature being worked on. Not only do you develop polished, reliable user interfaces that follow the wireframe, design and technical requirements, you also do this with the merchants’ needs in mind to make Subbly known for being the easiest e-commerce platform to use industry-wide. Your design-eye, attention to detail and self-motivated approach, results in increased merchant happiness due to an excellent user experience. Your primary internal stakeholder is the Engineering, Team Lead.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

- Stay up-to-date with e-commerce, front-end development and user experience best practices

- Write front-end code consistent with Subbly UI/UX design, wireframes or HTML provided

- Regular implementation of third-party libraries and APIs

- Plan and code new features with modern best practices and appropriate unit tests

- Create SDK's, libraries and embeddable widgets

- Review, confirm, and action front-end bug reports

- Introduce usability improvements to existing UI/UX

- Write and refactor code to replace legacy code

- Document and communicate changes to legacy code

- Thorough, practical code commenting for continuation

- Update the public change log and feature request board

- Test new and existing functionality with each deployment

- Maintain professional and up-to-date documentation of functionality for the entire codebase

- Perform regular security audits on the codebase

- Cross-browser and mobile responsiveness testing for pixel perfection across all devices

- Optimise development and deployment strategies

- Optimise load times of all scripts and pages

Qualifications and Skills

 

- 5+ years experience using Javascript and Typescript

- 5+ years experience using Vue.js and building SPA. Experience with Vue 3

- Profound understanding of JavaScript build tools: Vite, Webpack.

- 5+ years experience using CSS, SASS, and HTML skills

- Experience using design tools like Figma or Sketch is a must

- Strong understanding of mobile optimization and cross-browser testing

- Experience with PHP is preferred, especially Codeigniter and Laravel

- Experience using Git is a must and Vagrant and Composer are preferred

- Well-spoken and written English

- Experience working in Agile development environments is preferred
