We are looking for a Middle Java Engineer with a prime focus on the backend builds, scale and deliver on our platform. You’ll be part of a cross-functional team that’s responsible for the full software development lifecycle, from ideation to go-to-market.

As a backend engineer in this role, you should be highly experienced in building cloud-based systems with a keen focus on the adherence to industry best standards. You should be comfortable with microservices technologies. You would also be customer-centric and a team player.

Our client provides B2B digital lending solutions for emerging markets in partnership with mobile and digital wallet operators and financial service providers. Supports 24 operations in 23 countries, across Africa, the Middle East and Asia.

Their flagship products are Advance Credit Service (ACS), Nano and eBNPL.

- ACS is an airtime or data advance offered to prepaid mobile subscribers at the point of low credit.

- Nano is a micro cash advance offered to mobile wallet users on demand.

- eBNPL is a prepaid electricity token lending solution.

Responsibilities. What you’ll do:

Main goal: rewrite existing logic using microservices.

● Work with development teams, product managers to plan & prioritize, architecture, build,

advance, and scale software solutions;

● Participate in strategic technical decisions related to technology, definition, and

implementation of digital products;

● Deliver high quality, testable, secure, readable, and documented software with a focus on the customer;

● Advocate, advise and develop best industry standards such as CI/CD, Agile, responsive design, containerization, TDD, peer reviews, etc;

● Troubleshoot, debug and upgrade software;

● Write documentation and provide technical training.

Requirements. What we are looking for:

Essential Experience

● 3+ years of working experience handling multidisciplinary complex systems;

● Solid experience in backend technologies such as Java;

● Experience with Microservices;

● Experience with creating aesthetic user experience and interfaces;

● Working experience in an Agile environment;

● Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies: Docker & Kubernetes is a plus;

● Excellent communication and teamwork skills

● Strong organizational and analytical mind;

● Solid understanding of CI/CD and code versioning tools.

Desired experience

● Being familiar with the Linux environment as a user and developer (Debian is a plus);

● Familiarity with Jenkins;

● Solid experience and understanding in PSQL databases;

● Familiarity with NOSQL;

● Great attention to detail.

● Willingness to learn new technologies.
