What You'll Do

• Conduct live technical interviews with software engineering candidates worldwide via the platform.
• Assess coding skills, problem-solving abilities, technical knowledge, and communication while creating a professional and inclusive candidate experience.
• Provide structured, objective feedback based on established evaluation criteria to reduce bias and improve hiring quality.
• Collaborate with the client’s team to test, refine, and improve interview content, processes, and platform features.

Must Have

• 4+ years of professional experience as a Software Engineer/Developer.
• Strong Ruby / Ruby on Rails proficiency
• Working knowledge of frontend technologies (JavaScript, React, or similar).
• Solid understanding of algorithms, data structures, and software engineering fundamentals.
• Excellent English communication skills (spoken and written).

• Professional demeanor, ability to deliver objective assessments, and reliable setup (webcam, microphone, stable internet).

   

Nice to Have

• Prior experience conducting technical interviews (DS&A, system design).

• Maintain and support the existing Ruby-based system

We are looking for a Senior Ruby on Rails Backend Developer who will focus on building and integrating AI-powered features into a mature Ruby on Rails product.
 

This role is a strong fit for someone with strong backend engineering experience, solid Ruby on Rails skills, and practical experience working with AI-related product functionality.

You should be comfortable working with complex product logic, APIs, data flows, permissions, and integrations, while also being able to contribute to frontend parts of the product when needed.
 

This is not an AI research role. The focus is on applying AI capabilities within a real product environment, including features such as MCP server integrations, semantic search, API scopes, and other AI-related product improvements.
 

About the project

You will join a mature, long-term open-source project with an established codebase and real users worldwide. The product is related to project management and collaboration, with a strong focus on transparency, maintainability, usability, security, and continuous product improvement.

The engineering team includes 30+ experienced developers working remotely and collaboratively on a product with high visibility in the open-source community.
 

What you will work on

• Build and integrate AI-powered features into a Ruby on Rails product
• Work on AI-related integrations such as MCP servers, semantic search, API scopes, and similar functionality
• Design and implement secure, maintainable, and scalable backend logic
• Contribute to the frontend parts of product features when needed
• Work with APIs, permissions, data access, and integration flows
• Translate AI-related product ideas into reliable technical solutions

• Hands-on experience working with AI APIs, LLM-powered functionality, or similar AI-related integrations

• Solid backend engineering skills and the ability to work with complex product logic
• Good understanding of APIs, integrations, permissions, and data flows
• Experience building scalable, secure, and maintainable product features

• Develop new product features
• Fix bugs as they arise
• Ensure Merge Requests improve test coverage by adding new unit tests

About the Project:

Glasses+ is a Ruby on Rails application for creating and publishing customized eyewear models. Users can build product variations based on a set of components (frames, temples, lenses, colors, etc.) and publish them to a WordPress-based online store.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and improve existing functionality, fix bugs
• Monitor the correct product publishing flow between the app and WordPress
• Develop new features according to client requirements

• Potentially participate in building Glasses Shop — a separate Ruby on Rails app for selling eyewear (as an alternative to WordPress)

   

Requirements

• 2+ years of commercial experience with Ruby / Ruby on Rails
• Experience working in a project cooperation model
• Basic understanding of Redis and its methods
• Experience with Sidekiq or understanding of how background jobs work
