About the Role

We are looking for a talented Backend Software Engineer to help build Levl’s payments platform. This is an opportunity to join a fast-paced early-stage startup in which you will be given tremendous ownership and autonomy.

Key Responsibilities

• Working with cross-functional teams to build mission-critical financial services web products. You will be building microservices, API’s, web applications, and integrations to support cross-border payments and related back-office operations.

• Working closely with the CTO and contributing to ongoing efforts to enhance our payments platform.

   

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years of development of microservices
• Proficiency in Java or Golang and related frameworks, e.g. Spring Boot, Gin
• Proficiency with relational databases (ex PostgreSQL)
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Helm etc
• Experience working with message buses such as NATS, Kafka
• Experience in building cloud-native services using AWS, GCP, or Azure
• Experience in REST API development
• AI-native - experienced in leveraging AI technologies to build software (Claude, Cursor etc)
• Strong grasp of unit testing principles and testing libraries
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Ability to work with others in a fast-paced environment.

• Ability to self-organise and deliver high-quality work.

   

Nice to Have

• Experience building payment or trading systems
• Experience working with AWS-specific cloud services such as SQS, S3, IAM
• Front-end development experience using JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Next.js
