About the Role
We are looking for a talented Backend Software Engineer to help build Levl’s payments platform. This is an opportunity to join a fast-paced early-stage startup in which you will be given tremendous ownership and autonomy.

Key Responsibilities
- Working with cross-functional teams to build mission-critical financial services web products. You will be building microservices, API’s, web applications, and integrations to support cross-border payments and related back-office operations.
Working closely with the CTO and contributing to ongoing efforts to enhance our payments platform.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of development of microservices
- Proficiency in Java or Golang and related frameworks, e.g. Spring Boot, Gin
- Proficiency with relational databases (ex PostgreSQL)
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Helm etc
- Experience working with message buses such as NATS, Kafka
- Experience in building cloud-native services using AWS, GCP, or Azure
- Experience in REST API development
- AI-native - experienced in leveraging AI technologies to build software (Claude, Cursor etc)
- Strong grasp of unit testing principles and testing libraries
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
- Ability to work with others in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to self-organise and deliver high-quality work.
Nice to Have
- Experience building payment or trading systems
- Experience working with AWS-specific cloud services such as SQS, S3, IAM
- Front-end development experience using JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Next.js
