About the Role

We’re looking for a Staff Software Engineer who will act as a technical leader and force multiplier across our engineering team.

This is not just a senior individual contributor role, you’ll help shape how we design systems, build software, and adopt AI-assisted development practices.

You’ll work primarily in Python, building systems that integrate large language models (LLMs) into real healthcare workflows used by clinical research organizations and patients.

Beyond shipping product, you'll help elevate the engineering quality bar, architecture, and development practices across the company.

What You’ll Do

• Design, build, and own core systems in our Python-based platform
• Develop and scale LLM-powered features integrated into healthcare workflows
• Lead technical direction for your domain, balancing speed, simplicity, and long-term maintainability
• Mentor engineers through code reviews, design discussions, and pairing
• Champion engineering best practices including:
  • testing
  • observability
  • documentation
  • CI/CD
    
     
• Pioneer the use of AI-assisted engineering tools across development workflows (coding, testing, documentation, and reviews)
• Collaborate with product, design, and clinical teams to translate complex healthcare requirements into reliable systems
• Identify improvements to engineering processes, tooling, and team workflows
• Contribute to hiring and evaluating engineering candidates

What We’re Looking For

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Deep proficiency in Python
• Strong system design and architecture skills, with experience building production systems at scale
• A track record of technical leadership through influence, mentoring engineers without formal management authority
• Experience working in remote, distributed engineering teams
• Curiosity and enthusiasm for AI-assisted software development
• Clear communication skills in written and spoken English
• A pragmatic mindset with a bias toward simplicity and shipping

Nice to Have

• Experience in healthcare, health-tech, or clinical research
• Familiarity with HIPAA, SOC 2, or other compliance frameworks
• Hands-on experience with LLMs, prompt engineering, or AI/ML model integrations
• Experience building AI-enabled production systems
