This is a leadership role, but it is also a hands-on operational position. You'll run a small group inside our R&D function whose mission is to validate new product bets quickly. We move from "is this worth building?" to a working prototype in weeks, not quarters. You set the research direction, decide what to build and how, and lead the team to get it in front of users and stakeholders fast. This is a builder-leader role: roughly hands-on coding alongside the team, with the rest spent on strategy, planning, and unblocking people.

• Strong full-stack engineering with real AI-building depth — production experience across backend and frontend in at least two of C#, Python, and JavaScript/TypeScript (comfortable picking up the third), and a genuinely AI-native way of working: fluent with AI dev tools and hands-on experience building LLM-powered products (prompting, RAG, agents, evals). This is the builder half of a builder-leader — you'll write the first prototype yourself.
• Genuinely self-directed and motivated — thrives with ambiguity, defines the problem when no one hands it to them, and drives it to a result.

About the Team and Role

You'll join the Orchestration team and take ownership of the Payment Router — one of the core components of our platform. It lets merchants and operations specialists flexibly configure routing and processing rules, so they integrate with us once instead of connecting to a dozen different providers, and get the best conversion thanks to our business logic.

This is a high-load, technologically complex product with strict requirements for correctness, reliability, high availability, and low latency. We're currently exploring AI-driven options to simplify configuration for our merchants — so there's plenty of interesting work ahead.

This is a leadership role, and we want to be upfront about the path to it. Because of the depth of the domain and our experience onboarding leads, the first 6–9 months are focused on working as a Senior Engineer — getting deep into the product, the architecture, and the team — before stepping into the Tech Lead role in full. Your focus will be on:
