Jobs Embedded

We are a British—Ukrainian air defence tech company building distributed systems across the frontline. We are looking for an Embedded Engineer who will take full ownership of firmware and embedded systems running on edge devices in harsh, real-world environments. You will be responsible for the product’s electronics as a whole and will oversee and control its development.

Our core value is impact for Ukraine: we build technology that makes a real difference on the actual battlefield, not in labs or on paper specs. We operate with a deep-tech mindset, pushing new technologies where engineering rigor truly matters. We value ownership and responsibility—people who execute, deliver, and stand behind the results.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop firmware for STM32 (ARM Cortex-M) and ESP32 microcontroller series
• Configure and develop Embedded Linux solutions on Raspberry Pi
• Integrate different SDR (Software Defined Radio) models into a unified Linux-based ecosystem
• Work with vendor SDKs and develop high-performance userspace applications
• Work with I2C, SPI, UART, CAN and other protocols
• Optimize high-throughput data processing in real time, as well as overall system performance and reliability
• Debug inter-process communication, manage buffering and latency
• Write supporting software, automation scripts, and monitoring systems in Python
• Design architecture for industrial solutions with high fault tolerance; build reliable systems where operational stability is the priority

Requirements

• Proven experience in embedded systems and/or Linux systems development
• Deep knowledge of C/C++ for microcontrollers and Linux; reliable code that doesn’t crash on the first unexpected packet from hardware
• Linux Power User: comfortable in terminal, understands kernel-space vs user-space, knows systemd and driver configuration

Strong Plus

• SDR experience: familiarity with RTL-SDR, HackRF, USRP, or GNU Radio
• Understanding of data transmission protocols and digital signal processing (DSP)
• Experience with defense, dual-use, or other hardware operating in harsh conditions
• Hobbies related to electronics, radio communication, or robotics

We Offer

• Meaningful and high-impact work in the air defense domain. Your work directly contributes to Ukraine’s air defense
• Deep-tech challenges: solve engineering problems that don’t exist in the civilian sector
• High ownership: influence technical decisions and the product roadmap from day one
• Clear, fast, senior-to-senior communication with a minimum number of team meetings
• Standard business hours; some tasks may require involvement outside the usual schedule (testing, critical updates)
• Official employment with paid vacation, sick leave, and all statutory benefits

Project Overview / Assignment Overview

Join a long-term international engineering project delivered by Jabil and work on advanced embedded camera and video technologies for a global leader in smart automation and control systems.

This is an opportunity for an experienced Camera / Embedded Linux Engineer who enjoys working close to the hardware and deep inside the Linux and Android camera stack—solving the complex problems that happen where image sensors, drivers, kernel, ISP, multimedia frameworks, and Android come together.

You’ll contribute to a unified camera technology platform powering multiple product families used in conference rooms, classrooms, auditoriums, home offices, and enterprise environments worldwide. Your work will have a direct impact on camera performance, video quality, system stability, and the overall user experience of commercially deployed products.

Deep Camera & Embedded Linux Engineering

Rather than working only at the application layer, you’ll have the opportunity to investigate and solve problems across the complete camera pipeline, from hardware interfaces and Linux kernel drivers through Android and multimedia frameworks.

Solve Problems That Require Real Engineering

You may find yourself analyzing kernel logs and driver behavior, tracing frames through V4L2 and the ISP, debugging MIPI CSI-2 communication, investigating Android Camera HAL behavior, tuning GStreamer pipelines, or determining whether a difficult problem originates in the sensor, hardware interface, kernel, driver, multimedia stack, or higher software layers.

Technical Ownership & Global Product Impact

We value senior engineers who want more than a predefined list of implementation tasks. You’ll have the opportunity to own complex technical topics from investigation through solution, contribute to architecture and engineering decisions, and work directly with globally distributed technical stakeholders.

Required Expertise (Must have):

· 8+ years of embedded/low-level development experience, with 4–5+ years focused on Linux / Android BSP and camera or multimedia subsystem integration

· Strong C/C++ programming skills

· Strong experience with Linux kernel camera drivers and V4L2 (including sub-device drivers)

· Proven experience integrating and maintaining Android Camera HAL

· Hands-on experience with camera sensor bring-up and board-level integration

· Experience working with Device Tree / DTBO overlays, including power sequencing, reset, and clock (MCLK) configuration

· Experience with ISP and image quality (IQ) pipelines, including:

o 3A algorithms (AE, AWB, AF),

o Lens Shading Correction (LSC),

o Temporal Noise Reduction (TNR)

· Ability to debug complex camera pipelines across kernel and user space

· Experience with Git/Gerrit and build systems (Yocto or AOSP)

· Strong understanding of embedded Linux and Android system architecture

· Experience with camera validation and debugging frameworks.

· Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the manner to effectively collaborate for the successful project delivery and to take ownership of complex technical challenges.

Nice to have

· Experience with Qualcomm’s CHI pipeline

· Experience with ISP pipelines and proprietary HAL implementations

· Knowledge of multimedia frameworks such as GStreamer or OpenCV

· Experience working with high-resolution or multi-camera systems

· Familiarity with automated validation frameworks for camera subsystems

· Understanding of Android CTS/GTS compliance and metadata policies

Expected Deliverables and Areas of Contribution

· Take responsibility for cross-platform camera architecture and board bring-up deliverables across Linux and Android platforms.

· Develop and maintain Linux camera drivers, including V4L2 sub-device drivers.

· Integrate, maintain, and optimize Android Camera HAL components.

· Design and validate Device Tree / DTBO overlays, including power, reset, and MCLK configuration.

· Develop automated media graph validation, streaming verification, and long-running stress test suites.

· Tune image quality pipelines using vendor-provided IQ tools.

· Collaborate with project hardware teams to validate and troubleshoot CSI timing, PHY configuration, and camera sensor integration.

· Collaborate with project silicon and camera vendors to support platform integration and resolve technical issues.

· Prepare and maintain technical documentation related to camera bring-up and platform integration.

· Support performance optimization, platform stability, and long-term maintainability.

• C++11 та вище - мова, стандартна бібліотека;
• Python на рівні читання коду та розуміння алгоритмів;
• Linux на рівні C++ розробника і користувача;
• Git, gitflow;
• Базові алгоритми та структури даних, оцінка складності алгоритмів;
• Розуміння принципів роботи процесора, пам'яті, операційної системи, багатопоточності;

• Базові знання про обробку зображень та відео.

Що було б добре мати:

• Використання boost в повсякденній розробці;
• Вміння інтеграції C++ з Python (boost::python або інші);
• Досвід роботи з бібліотеками OpenCV;
• Досвід роботи з одноплатформними комп'ютерами, портами вводу-виводу;
• Досвід роботи з кодуванням відео (FFMPEG, gstreamer);
• Знання nVidia CUDA, TensorRT;
• Робота з камерами.

Технічний стек:

• Raspberry Pi, Jetson Orin family;
• C++17, CMake, conan, boost;
• OpenCV, libcamera, FFMPEG, gstreamer, libargus;
• Python 3.x, numpy, OpenCV, FastAPI, pydantic;

• GitLab CI/CD, Docker;
