The Role in a Nutshell

This is not a pure research position.

Softsich is a young and ambitious international product tech company that develops scalable B2B digital platforms. We’re looking for a Senior Python Developer who will take ownership of a high-load AWS serverless solution designed to intelligently redirect users to the most suitable mirror domain.

The system takes into account multiple factors such as geographical location, mirror availability, user behavior, ISP limitations, and more. Its goal is to improve user experience, ensure high availability, and provide strong monitoring and analytics — all built on top of AWS serverless technologies for maximum scalability and flexibility.

Your key responsibilities will include:

– Full ownership and ongoing development of a serverless backend solution.

– Designing, implementing, and maintaining services using Python and AWS Serverless stack.

– Working with AWS CDK to define and evolve infrastructure as code.

– Developing and maintaining APIs and integrations with external systems.

– Ensuring system reliability, scalability, and fault tolerance.

– Improving monitoring, logging, and observability of the platform.

– Actively participating in technical and architectural decision-making.

Role Overview

Designs and implements the visual feature extraction pipeline, ensuring high-quality input data for the ML model from multi-camera capture system

Key Responsibilities

Phase 0: Pilot 

• Design and deploy 3-camera capture system (top-down + 2 oblique)
• Implement cross-polarized lighting setup for glare elimination
• Develop visual feature extraction algorithms:
  • Skin blanching detection
  • Contact patch area measurement
  • Finger flexion analysis (keypoint tracking)
  • Micro-tremor detection (10-20 Hz)
• Synchronize camera streams with hardware frame-lock
• Collect and curate training dataset (100+ matches)

Phase 1: Demo 

• Optimize feature extraction for real-time performance (<8ms budget)
• Implement confidence scoring for feature quality
• Handle challenging conditions (varied lighting, athlete positioning)
• Support broadcast integration with visual debugging tools
• Refine calibration procedures based on demo feedback

Phase 2: Production 

• Implement failover and redundancy for camera failures
• Optimize for 98%+ uptime during live events
• Develop automated quality monitoring and alerting
• Support LED synchronization (Art-Net/DMX integration)

Required Technical Skills

Must Have:

• 5+ years experience in computer vision engineering
• Expert-level knowledge of OpenCV and image processing techniques
• Experience with high-speed camera systems (120+ FPS)
• Strong understanding of optical phenomena (lighting, polarization, color science)
• Experience with multi-camera synchronization and calibration
• Proficiency in C++ and Python for real-time CV pipelines

• Experience with GPU-accelerated image processing (CUDA, cuDNN)

   

Strongly Preferred:

• Experience with industrial vision systems or broadcast/entertainment applications
• Knowledge of color-based feature extraction (blanching, perfusion analysis)
• Experience with pose estimation and hand/finger tracking (MediaPipe, OpenPose)
• Background in optics and lighting design for machine vision
• Experience with GigE Vision or USB3 Vision camera protocols

• Familiarity with embedded vision systems or edge deployment

   

Nice to Have:

• Experience with NIR imaging or multi-spectral cameras
• Knowledge of photogrammetry and 3D reconstruction

We are looking for a hands-on DevOps / SRE engineer to join our engineering team and help improve reliability, scalability and observability of a production cloud infrastructure.

• Take full ownership of planning and delivering platform roadmap items
• Lead the backend engineers + QA engineers in the team, organize day-to-day work and ensure predictable delivery
• Plan work for the next quarter and contribute to high-level multi-quarter planning together with Director of Engineering
• Improve delivery accuracy, reduce delays, and manage risks early
• Design and develop scalable high-load backend solutions used across the company
• Optimize data flows, performance, and system reliability
• Drive modernization of legacy services, architecture improvements and technical debt reduction
• Collaborate with product owners, solution architects and other teams on priorities and alignment

About you

• 7+ years of backend engineering experience including distributed systems design

• Able to work under high delivery pressure and manage trade-offs
