As a Lead Backend Developer, you will oversee the backend development team, ensuring high-quality code, system stability, and efficient debugging. Youβll be responsible for production system performance, architecture decisions, and issue resolution, working closely with DevOps and other teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the backend development team, ensuring best practices and code quality
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable microservices using NestJS and TypeScript
- Oversee API security, including JWT, OAuth, and data encryption strategies
- Manage database design, query optimization, and transactions in PostgreSQL (TypeORM)

- Incident Response Ownership: Act as the escalation point during critical incidents, providing guidance, ensuring timely resolution, and communicating impact and progress to relevant stakeholders.
- Post-Incident Review: Lead or contribute to post-mortem analyses after major incidents, identifying root causes and implementing preventative measures in collaboration with DevOps, QA, and engineering teams.
- System Readiness Oversight: Ensure services owned by the team meet operational readiness criteria, including monitoring, alerting, documentation, and automated recovery mechanisms.
Knowledge Sharing and Preparedness: Maintain detailed runbooks, promote cross-training within the team, and ensure all team members are prepared and confident to handle on-call responsibilities.

- Design and programming of flight guidance and flight control algorithms for automatic and autonomous flight

- Analysis of flight data recordings as well as evaluation and processing of test results
- Generation of C/C++ code with Matlab Simulink and its integration into the FCS / autopilot framework

What you bring to the team:
- You have completed a degree/apprenticeship in the field of aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, automotive engineering, electrical engineering or robotics.
- You have theoretical knowledge in the field of flight mechanics and have mastered the basics of control engineering. You also have practical experience with model aircraft, multicopters and / or their subsystems.
- You have knowledge of programming with Matlab/Simulink. Fluent handling of the programming language C and Git is also desirable.
