The job

You are the engineering lead on the platform, working alongside the CTO every day. Platform architecture, scaling, infrastructure and data are yours. When a query gets slow, when a service will not hold the next order of magnitude, when a feature needs to be designed before it can be built, that is your call to make.
 

This is roughly 70 percent building and 30 percent raising the standard of everyone else's work: reviewing pull requests, setting the code quality bar, unblocking teammates and making decisions that stop being reversible three months later.
 

You own

• Platform architecture and the scaling path, from schema and query performance to infrastructure and cost
• Delivery of the harder platform features end to end, from design through production
• Code quality across the codebase: review standards, testing, what ships and what does not
• Technical decisions made with the CTO, and the ones made on your own when the CTO is not in the room
• The engineers around you getting better, through review, pairing and design conversations
   

The experience we require

• Seven or more years building production software, with real time spent on systems that grew past their first architecture
• Depth in relational data: schema design, query optimisation, and diagnosing performance from first principles rather than by guessing
• Cloud infrastructure and CI/CD owned in production, not consumed as a service someone else runs
• A track record of raising other engineers' work through code review and design feedback
• AI native. You already work with AI coding tools daily and build the tooling you need without being shown how

Project Description

The project develops a leading software solution for the Energy domain, covering all stages of Oil & Gas production—from geological exploration to the optimization of ongoing production.

The product helps geologists and geophysicists research, visualize, and interpret large volumes of geological data.

This is a stable, long-term project that continuously adopts modern technologies, including Java 11, cloud solutions, and GPU computing. The role involves close collaboration with the customer’s team in Houston and working according to Agile principles.

You will join a senior, supportive, and friendly team, where you will have the opportunity to learn the project’s technologies, explore the existing codebase, and gradually begin working on project tasks.

Responsibilities

• Learn the technologies used on the project;
• Explore and become familiar with the existing codebase;
• Start working on project tasks.

Mandatory Skills

• Strong knowledge of Java Core;
• Knowledge of algorithms, including sorting and optimization;
• English proficiency at the Intermediate level or higher.

Nice-to-Have Skills

• Experience in desktop application development using Java;

We are looking for a skilled Senior DevOps Engineer to join a project focused on enhancing and modernizing client's cloud platform. This role offers the flexibility of remote work, allowing you to contribute to significant improvements in cloud infrastructure and automation processes. Your tasks:

• Building and maintaining platform integrations and automation workflows
• Developing solutions using Go/Golang to enhance cloud operations
• Implementing Infrastructure as Code using Terraform
• Integrating cloud APIs for VMware, Azure, and AWS platforms
• Creating and managing CI/CD pipelines to streamline deployments
• Utilizing PowerShell and Bash scripting for automation
• Managing Kubernetes and container platforms for efficient application deployment

• Applying configuration management tools like Ansible to maintain system integrity

   

Requirements:

• Minimum 5 years of experience in DevOps or cloud engineering
• Hands-on mastery of Go/Golang development
• Experience with VMware and cloud API integrations
• Knowledge of AWS or Azure services
• Advanced level of English
• Tax residency in Ukraine is required

Nice to have:

• Practical experience in Azure and/or AWS platform engineering
• Familiarity with Ansible or similar configuration management tools
• Strong command of Terraform and Infrastructure as Code principles
• Familiarity with CI/CD platforms and automation pipelines
• Experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration
