We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Senior Backend Engineer (Python) to join our Streaming engineering team. In this role, you’ll help build and evolve a modular, high-scale real-time transcription platform, designed to handle live audio and video streams across a wide range of connection types—from browser-based streaming to professional broadcast protocols and dedicated encoding hardware.

You’ll work on the core systems that power Verbit’s real-time speech-to-text capabilities, serving customers across media, education, and legal domains. About the role

We are a small, fast-moving marketing agency focused on SEO + AI Search Optimization for personal brand businesses, mainly keynote speakers, authors, coaches, and executives.

Right now, it is the founder (me) + a Digital Business Manager. This hire is our first delivery-focused role. You will take ownership of SEO execution for clients and, just as importantly, help build the internal operating system: the workflows, templates, SOPs, and reporting that will later become our SEO department foundation.

This is not a “do tasks and disappear” role. You will be building how we work.

What success looks like

By ~90 days

• We have a documented and improved repeatable SEO workflow (onboarding, audit, roadmap, execution cadence, reporting)
• Templates exist and are usable (audit doc, roadmap, reporting format, content planning system, task checklists)
• You deliver work consistently and independently with minimal supervision using our documented SEO workflow.
   

By ~6 months

• You can independently deliver SEO work for new clients end to end (with strategy direction from me when needed)

• Track AI-related referral signals and visibility patterns
• Turn what works into a standard playbook over time
   

4) Manage external partners and keep delivery moving

• Coordinate with our partner agency (later responsibility, not day one)
• Manage writers and designers where needed
• Ensure deadlines are met and outputs match our standards

You will become part of the Smart City ecosystem - a large-scale software product for the Middle East market. This is a fully agile, product-oriented environment with real users and a tangible impact on urban infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

• Architect and develop robust backend applications using Node.js and NestJS in a monorepo and microservices environment.
• Embrace and operate within a T-shaped approach, being ready to extend expertise beyond backend tasks to ensure end-to-end delivery of features.
• Design, implement, and manage highly scalable database solutions using PostgreSQL (AWS RDS) and caching strategies with Redis.
• Develop and maintain integrations with various AWS services including SQS, S3, Lambda, IAM, System Manager, EC2, and EKS/ECS for cloud-native applications.
• Manage and optimize containerization and deployment processes with Docker, including building and pushing to registries, and implementing CI/CD pipelines using GitLab runners.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in backend development with strong proficiency in Node.js, NestJS, and related technologies.
• Knowledge or experience in Frontend development (specifically Next.js) is a significant plus.
• Knowledge or experience with automated tests (integration, E2E) is a significant plus.
• Willingness and mindset to work in a T-shaped model, contributing to various stages of the development lifecycle.
• Expertise in building and managing microservices architectures and a monorepo setup.
• Extensive experience with PostgreSQL (AWS RDS), Redis, and other backend data storage and caching technologies.
