Loankea is a US mortgage lender. We build and run our own software: a workspace for our staff and a portal where borrowers apply and follow their case. Both are in production and used every day.

You would be the second engineer on this codebase, working directly with the person who built it, and you would carry a task from the issue to production yourself.

The role

Principal DevOps Engineer to design and build the AWS infrastructure and delivery platform the new gaming platform will run on. Greenfield: define the cloud foundation — account structure, networking, Kubernetes platform, CI/CD, observability — before the first production workload lands, then scale it to sportsbook peak traffic for millions of players. The platform must hold under live-betting spikes, strict uptime expectations for a money-moving system, and gaming-regulator audit and compliance requirements. Hands-on technical leader: writes infrastructure code daily, sets platform standards, and is the technical authority on how software is built, shipped and operated.

What you will do

• Design the AWS foundation from scratch: multi-account architecture (AWS Organizations), landing zone, VPC and networking, IAM strategy, cost governance
• Build and operate the container platform — Amazon EKS, service mesh, autoscaling tuned for spiky sportsbook load, multi-AZ (and where justified multi-region) resilience
• Define everything as code: Terraform for all infrastructure, GitOps delivery (Argo CD or similar), paved-road CI/CD pipelines so product teams ship safely and often
• Establish the observability stack — metrics, logging, tracing, alerting (Prometheus/Grafana, OpenTelemetry, CloudWatch) — and drive an SLO-based reliability practice with error budgets

This role combines hands-on delivery of AI, GenAI, Agentic AI, and AI-native engineering solutions with practice development, presales support, mentoring, research, and AI SDLC enablement. The successful candidate will act as a technical leader on client projects while helping strengthen the company’s internal AI capabilities, delivery standards, reusable assets, engineering practices, and AI delivery methodologies.

The role is expected to be split approximately as follows:
— 50% Project Delivery — leading the design and implementation of AI, GenAI, and Agentic AI solutions for clients.
— 50% AI CoE Contribution — supporting presales, capability development, AI SDLC initiatives, mentoring, workshops, internal accelerators, and R&D.

Required for this role

Experience:

• 5+ years of commercial software engineering experience with substantial hands-on coding responsibilities.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience designing, building, and delivering AI, Machine Learning, or Generative AI solutions in production environments.
• Experience leading technical teams or acting as a Technical Lead on client-facing projects.
• Proven experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and communicating effectively with both technical and business stakeholders.

AI & GenAI Expertise:

• Deep practical experience with Large Language Models (LLMs), embeddings, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), AI agents, prompt engineering, and model evaluation.
• Proven experience designing and deploying complex AI systems involving agent orchestration, multi-agent architectures, coding agents, and AI-native engineering workflows.
• Hands-on experience with modern AI assistants and coding agents such as Claude, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Windsurf, or similar platforms.
• Experience building AI-powered development accelerators and automation frameworks, including prompt management, context engineering, tool integration, skills, agents, feedback loops, and AI SDLC workflows.
• Strong understanding of emerging AI engineering practices, model capabilities and limitations, evaluation methodologies, and responsible AI principles.

Software Engineering & Architecture:

• Strong software engineering foundation, including software architecture, clean code principles, automated testing, source control, DevOps, CI/CD, and modern software delivery practices.
• Proven experience designing scalable, secure, reliable, and maintainable AI-powered systems for production environments.
• Ability to incorporate governance, observability, security, and operational considerations into AI solution architectures.

Leadership & Professional Skills:

• Strong leadership, mentoring, presentation, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to drive technical decisions, establish engineering best practices, and guide teams through AI solution delivery.
• Ability to manage multiple initiatives, adapt quickly to changing priorities, and effectively switch contexts in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills.

Nice to Have:

• Experience in presales, solution consulting, proposal preparation, technical workshops, solution estimation, and client-facing architecture discussions.

Your responsibilities

Project Delivery and Technical Leadership:

• Lead the design and delivery of AI, ML, GenAI, and Agentic AI solutions for client projects.
• Act as a technical lead for AI agents, copilots, AI-powered workflows, and AI-enabled engineering initiatives.
• Define solution architecture, technical approach, implementation standards, and delivery plans.
• Guide engineering teams on model integration, retrieval-based solutions, agent workflows, evaluation, monitoring, and deployment.
• Lead projects using modern AI-native engineering methodologies, including Specification-Driven Development (SDD), to improve delivery speed, quality, traceability, governance, and engineering productivity.
• Translate business requirements into structured specifications, acceptance criteria, and implementation plans that can be consumed by both engineering teams and AI agents.
• Review technical designs, architecture decisions, code quality, delivery risks, and AI governance considerations.
• Collaborate with client stakeholders, project managers, business analysts, architects, engineers, and QA teams.

Presales and Client Engagement:

• Support discovery calls, technical workshops, and client consultations.
• Prepare solution concepts, technical proposals, estimates, and delivery approaches.
• Contribute to statements of work, proof-of-concept planning, and architecture documentation.
• Support sales and account teams with technical expertise during presales activities.

AI SDLC and Practice Development:

• Help define and improve company practices for applying AI across the software delivery lifecycle.
• Contribute to defining and evolving company standards for AI-native software delivery and Specification-Driven Development.
• Create practical approaches for using AI in discovery, requirements, design, development, testing, deployment, and support.
• Develop reusable specification templates, evaluation plans, agent instructions, and delivery playbooks.
• Contribute to internal frameworks for coding agents, AI evaluations, quality gates, responsible AI delivery, and AI governance.
• Support the development of repeatable delivery models for AI and GenAI projects.

Mentoring, Enablement, and Community Leadership:

• Mentor engineers, tech leads, and delivery teams in AI, GenAI, Agentic AI, AI SDLC, and SDD practices.
• Conduct internal and client-facing workshops on AI-first engineering and AI-enabled software delivery.
• Support knowledge sharing and capability growth across the organization.
• Participate in technical interviews and hiring activities.

Research and Innovation:

• Lead R&D initiatives in GenAI, AI agents, AI SDLC, and AI-assisted software delivery.
• Explore new tools, frameworks, cloud services, and delivery practices.
• Build prototypes and proof-of-concepts to validate new ideas.
• Develop reusable accelerators, frameworks, demos, and delivery assets.

About Leadature

Leadature is a B2B event-technology platform that has operated since 2008, with Fortune 500 clients and a 17-year track record. We run on-site intelligence for live events: badge scanning, lead capture and retrieval, session and booth tracking, badge printing, RFID, AI enrichment, and post-event reporting. We serve both sides of an event – the organizer running the show and the exhibitors on the floor.

We are a small, senior, fully distributed team. Decisions are fast, and we work dynamically.

Why this role exists

Our platform works, and it delivers for enterprise clients and SMBs, and has done for years. Over time, it inherited a lot of per-client customisations; product direction is currently split across several owners, which means we build reactively and our roadmap is decided by whichever event is next.

We are deciding now how much of it to modernise and how much to rebuild. Whoever takes this role will be one of a small number of people who genuinely understand how the product works – and central to what we build next.

If you like inheriting a real system with real clients on it, and turning manual work into product, this is that job. If you want greenfield only, it isn't.

What you will do

Support our clients

• Be the technical voice in client conversations, alongside customer success and sales
• Own client technical issues end to end — troubleshooting, data exports, configuration questions — with a client waiting
• Run and improve the enrichment delivery for client events
• Support live events. Events do not respect office hours, and during a show you will be reachable and responsive
• Travel to a small number of client events a year to see the product in the environment it runs in

Build and customise

• Ship the customisations enterprise clients ask for, hands-on
• Stand up client registration and event pages quickly – we are comfortable with AI-assisted development where it gets a working thing in front of a client faster
• Look for the places where AI removes manual work altogether — our enrichment pipeline, badge data cleanup, and reporting are all still done by hand and should not be
• Improve the enrichment pipeline, which we currently run largely by hand

Make the knowledge transferable

• Document how the platform works – campaign structures, data models, integrations, exports
• Replace tribal knowledge with automation, tooling and sane technical governance
• Get us to a point where we can add engineers without a two-month ramp

Support clients directly

• Be the technical voice in client conversations, alongside our customer success and sales team
• Support live events. Events do not respect office hours, and during a show you will be reachable and responsive

Your first 90 days

This is real work waiting, not an onboarding exercise.

1. Document the campaign architecture – how primary, lookup and vertical campaigns interconnect
2. Produce a field dictionary for our event data exports, so anyone can pull a clean file
3. Take ownership of our platform integrations and move them onto proper service accounts
4. Come back with a prioritised product roadmap and tell us what you would change first

What we are looking for

Must have

• Strong .NET / C# engineering, and no fear of a legacy codebase. Our platform is an older ASP.NET application – you should be able to read it, ship into it, and say honestly what is load-bearing and what should be replaced
• Fluent in a modern stack too, because that is where we are heading: current .NET (8 or later) with ASP.NET Core, Entity Framework Core, SQL Server or PostgreSQL, React with TypeScript, and containerised deploys with CI/CD. You don't need every one of these, but you should have built and shipped on a current stack recently – not only maintained an old one
• Excellent written English, and comfort being in front of enterprise clients
• Willingness to be available during live events, including outside normal hours
• Genuine AI proficiency, not curiosity. You use coding assistants and agentic tools daily and have opinions about which ones earn their place. You have used LLMs on real data work
• Self-direction. Nobody here will manage your calendar

Nice to have

• Event technology, ticketing, registration, or conference-tech background. This is a genuine advantage and we will weight it heavily
• Experience with badge and registration APIs generally
• Data work: reporting, enrichment, moving messy data between systems
• Having built something with an LLM in the product itself, not just in your own workflow

Working setup

• Fully remote. We work across US and European hours
• Contract engagement to start, with scope for it to grow as the platform does
• A few events a year might involve travel, fully covered
